Default I actually thought dpd was a decent courier

I have a urgent parcel.....
no notification that they were coming to attempt delivery (mind that's down to seller to input phone/email).
so I checked myself using tracking out of curiosity to if it's coming today.
they have attempted delivery but unable to get a signature, I have a photo that they take of house and it says a card has been left, now in this photo I can see my wife's car on drive so that tells me she's in, and also no calling card left!
im puzzled on why the **** the driver would waste their time coming to house, take a photo as proof and not even bother to deliver or leave a card?
i work for dhl express and have a vast knowledge of how you do the job.

What an idiot is all I have to say.

rant over!

Similar thing last week, I live above a pub, it opens at 11am the driver took a photo of the door which included the opening times. It was about 5 to 11.. So I had to wait 24 hours because he couldnt be bothered to wait 5 mins.

tbh I get that, 5 mins is very important to a courier tbh (I have timed deliveries everywhere so don't really have time to mess about, if your not in or answering door Thrn I leave a card and bye bye), I had a pub yesterday, banged on door, no answer so left a card and then we try again following day (sometimes if I'm driving past later when doing collections I'll try again just out of kindness, we don't have to, it automatically goes on next working day) but then I got rid of it today, probably because card says we will try the following day.

my issue is from a courier like dpd as I regard them as decent to not know if they have even been, lucky I checked myself to find out where it is otherwise I wouldn't know at all.
i have now authorised to leave in a safe place for tomorrow now.

you must work for herpees or yodel then lol.
a few are yes, per signature they are paid etc.
im on a salary. Pretty decent one if I must say so myself but then again we are a very high security courier as we specialise in international mostly. Mind we go on training courses all paid for chill in a hotel etc lol.
i had my own courier business back in the day, I said I'd never do it again, but at dhl I've got set amount of deliveries on my route and no more (60) and then about 25 collections so I'm not really under too much pressure. Whatever I leave the overflow drivers take them. Set 9hrs a day too. Tbf it's a decent company to work for compared to most if not all other couriers lol

DPD are, you just had a crap driver just like you get idiots in any profession/at any company. Perhaps your Mrs was in the bathroom or out of earshot from the door and like you say a driver can't hang about. If I order something and it is being delivered by any other company than DPD i'm disappointed as DPD are the only ones to give text/email for an hours slot and i've had the same driver for years and he is always on time. If it's being delivered by Hermes or Yodel then I know it's either not going to turn up or it will be damaged.

THIS! DPD 9 times out of 10 as a customer I have never had any problems what so ever with their service....On the other hand Yodel and Herpes are a complete waste of space,I'm surprised that they are both still in business and to be completely frank I don't buy from any business regardless of what I need...if they use any of those delivery firms for their parcel dispatch. .SJ.

I never have a problem with dpd, my deliveries are routed to my nearest pick up point which is halford's less than 1/2 mile from my house so collect on way home from work.

Hermes once shoved a card through my door stating nobody was in and we had to re-arrange delivery..........funny thing is that me and my Mrs were on the sofa at the time..........lazy fcukpigs

I've never had a problem with DPD, i like the text notification/email as well giving you a 1hr delivery window, you can plan your day then. They have been very good in my experience, always on time and the package arriving safe and in the condition it left the customer in.

i do agree with you on the crap or slack driver, but no calling card left and no text alerts (but then thats the sellers fault for not adding my number)
it generally was a rant at the driver but i do indeed class dpd as decent uk couriers along with ups and obviously dhl.
