Default Train cancellations

How is it reasonable companies are allowed to Speculatively cancel services , before a drop snow has even arrived. Would this happen in other places that have real winter

It's the fault of the PratOffice. they have been panicking folk about this beast from the east for two weeks now.

They did similar and Lincoln's Christmas Market got cancelled last day. No snow then either.

Time they were held responsible, methinks.

I cancelled my own train this morning after numerous delays, tanoys giving weather warnings, 2 platform changes and a final announcment to say my approaching train was over subscribed.
I simply walked out of the station, grabbed a cab home and worked there for the day.

Damned if they do and and damned if they don't......I've seen a fair few people this past few days change their "view" when they realised that the weather people were not "over egging the pudding" so to speak. If you live in Scotland and near Edinburgh then good luck with any kind of transport because from what I have seen it is fooked...............the same goes for the North East of England.

I would rather a once in a 5 year event be over played in the media so I can make contingency arrangements than be totally clueless when the **** hits the fan...........try spending the night on the M80 in your freezing car and then come and tell me it's a load of old bollicks..............

Cold and snow in Scotland. Who'd have thought that such a region which has its own Ski resorts would have a temperate climate?

Meanwhile BBC reporter stood in 1" of snow says it's the worst ever.

They really have no news to report on these days. Oh, yes and it's a bit windy.

What was it like in 2014...http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk...k-9946089.html

Hmm. A better tact would be to lobby government to make it law to have severe weather response to amber or red alerts; That would include banning HGVs and cars from the roads that do not have winter tyres and no further provisions (spade, towing rope, snow socks/chains, blankets and water etc.), a curfew on non-essential private transportation. And to make it mandatory for buses to have winter tyres.

No, we'll just show footage of some dude skiing down a local high street and blabber on about how terrible it is.

Yes the BBC this morning, grabs a hand full of snow from a parked car & says several inches here, its was 2 inches at most, last night's Anglia news bod says 30cm of snow reported, do these people have there own news calibrated rulers.
