He had a full auto which was probably obtained illegally, afaik. I've already seen people responding to people criticizing gun laws saying that we need guns to protect people against things like this - great lot of good that did last night....
Terrible thing to have happened, but it feels like this is only the tip of the iceberg and I think it will get worse.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the right to bear arms (BTW I have no problems with this) was written into their constitution back when a six shooter a Winchester and/or a shotgun was the norm. Military grade weapons have no place in the general population and makes no sense
He may well have obtained a fully automatic weapon illegally but with a little knowledge and a file you can convert a semi auto quite easily.
My thoughts are with the victims and their families RIP

Nevada has pretty much the least strict gun laws in the US. Although you cannot buy a fully automatic weapon in any state now, Nevada still allows private sales of guns between citizens with no checks, so it's entirely possibly he has bought second hand fully auto weapons perfectly legally.
Of course, Trump has refused to call for more control, and the NRA should hang its head in shame. Obviously in Nevada, there are plenty of 'good guys with guns' who could have stopped this bad one, but patently that's bollocks.
He had no criminal record, no history of mental health, no affiliation to extremist groups. The only way to have prevented this one is to remove guns.
I eagerly await the NRA's defence of this one

White Caucasian elderly man , if will no doubt get brushed up under the carpet & some independent analysts will release a statement blaming it on gambling & prostitution excesses..
Had this been a rag head spouting a black flag or a disgruntled ( non American ) the troops would be already at this moment dropping bombs ..

CORRECT. This is what I said in a similar mass shooting thread in June 2016
"Do Americans really believe that the chaps who agreed the Constitutional 2nd Amendment being the Right to Bear Arms on 15th December 1791 would be happy that it was fine 225 years later for Americans to own weapons of utter devastation, Kalashnikovs etc etc?
Of course not.
I have no idea what guns were like in 1791 but I imagine some single/double shot rifles, heavy cannons and John Wayne type 6 shooters. Hardly the weapons to wipe out 50 poor sods who happened to be gay in a few blasts.
Come on Senate - smell the coffee. Stupid, shorted sighted b,astards

Nevada law and its actual definition of "act of terrorism."
"NRS 202.4415 "Act of terrorism" defined.
"Act of terrorism" means any act that involves the use or attempted use of sabotage, coercion or violence which is intended to:
(a) Cause great bodily harm or death to the general population; or
(b) Cause substantial destruction, contamination or impairment of:
(1) Any building or infrastructure, communications, transportation, utilities or services; or
(2) Any natural resource or the environment."

The real issue, to me at least, is that a civilised country can allow such freedom to carry arms in the general population, whether it be shotguns, pistols, AR15s or M134 miniguns.......
The only upside is if we ever get a zombie apocalypse, I'm off to the States
