Default Comedians - Stand Up.

I was just thinking about Stand up Comedians, and who to go and watch next, or I might go to another Comedy Club and see the "wannabes".

Who's your favourites?

This is an inexhaustive list of stand-up comedians from the United Kingdom stolen from Wiki

Seen Jimmy Carr/Al Murray several times.
Thought they were very funny and very good.

Seen Alan Carr, didn't think he was very good, or funny - seemed really nervous.
Seen John Bishop, didn't think he was good either

I saw Omid Djalili in the late 90s whilst he was still fairly unknown and he was very good. Although I think part of his act was successful because he was unknown (he came on and started speaking very broken English, before going all out cockney).

Diane Abbott ?
Unfortunately she'd just forget all the jokes, then she would mention Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister and bring the house down

Went to see Russel Howard at the Albert Hall earlier this year. Managed to see Frankie Boyle last year, very funny yet dark.

99% of all of those mainstream comedians are absolute ****...

I would recommend Bill Burr, Liza Lampanelli, Bill Hicks (a true legend), Lenny Bruce (the godfather of standup comedy) and Woody Allen back in the day...His monologues are hysterical...

Larry David??

The Americans are the masters of stand up..We've only produced a handful of genuinely intelligent, provocative and hysterically funny comedians and comedy actors..The rest are either just silly/infantile (morecambe and wise etc), or self indulgent (stewart lee)...The ones that we have produced are all unique and in a class of their own..Kenneth Williams, Billy Connolly etc

These TV friendly so called comedians like Howard, Mcintyre, or even worse..John Bishop.. et al are absolute populist dross..Give me someone thought provoking like Jerry Sadowitz..

Well, they're not laughing now....."

Good old Mr Monkhouse RIP

I think Kenn Dodd is actually very funny !

Didn't really appreciate Bob as comic, because of course he'd always be fronting some or other incredibly cheesy show , but he was def good

Ive seen jimmy carr, ricky gervais and michael macintyre and they were all brilliant but for me michael macintyre was the funniest, i literally left the show with sore ribs and at times had tears running down my face from laughing so much.

Stewart francis was on before ricky gervais, hes one of my favourite comedians, constant 1 liners, theres another guy called rich hall, both of these are absolutely ace.

I also really like catherine ryan and am possibly in love with her a little bit, i like how filthy she is and reckon shed **** just as filthy too.

I think Sean Lock is hilarious as his sarcasm about every day observations is spot on.

Oh no there isn't! Oh yes there is!!

Roy "Chubby" Brown (born Royston Vasey;[1] 3 February 1945) is an English stand-up comedian, famous for his sarcastic blue humour. The controversial free speaking nature of his act and lack of concern for political correctness have led Brown to face accusations that his comedy style is "outdated"

Jo Brand? fat chunt.

Her idea of comedy used to be to mention tampons or periods, then smirk.

I like my comedy a bit more hard edged & challenging.I do laugh at the more main stream comedians & appreciate their talent but it ultimately leaves me unsatisfied. They base there humour around middle/working class family values & you always have a voice in the back of your head nagging on that this person is a multi-millionaire.

I like Stewart Lee & for raw political humour Jonathan Pie.

Clip of Jonathan Pie:

WARNING! Very strong language.

That Jonathan Pie thing really did nothing for me, just sounded like a dull anti-tory rant. I had no idea it was supposed to be comedy.

You have to watch a few more.He is anti all political nonsense from any source.
He plays a spoof political reporter & shows what he really thinks during the breaks in reporting when talking off air to his producer who is back in the studio.

Anti labour :

I also like Charlie Brooker.
