Default Comedians - Stand Up.

I was just thinking about Stand up Comedians, and who to go and watch next, or I might go to another Comedy Club and see the "wannabes".

Who's your favourites?

This is an inexhaustive list of stand-up comedians from the United Kingdom stolen from Wiki

Seen Jimmy Carr/Al Murray several times.
Thought they were very funny and very good.

Seen Alan Carr, didn't think he was very good, or funny - seemed really nervous.
Seen John Bishop, didn't think he was good either

I saw Omid Djalili in the late 90s whilst he was still fairly unknown and he was very good. Although I think part of his act was successful because he was unknown (he came on and started speaking very broken English, before going all out cockney).

Diane Abbott ?
Unfortunately she'd just forget all the jokes, then she would mention Jeremy Corbyn as Prime Minister and bring the house down

Seen Lee Nelson, Rob Beckett, Lee Evans, Jon Richardson, Jason Manford, Jimmy Carr and Jasper Carrott to name but a few. Would recommend them all.

Went to see Russel Howard at the Albert Hall earlier this year. Managed to see Frankie Boyle last year, very funny yet dark.

99% of all of those mainstream comedians are absolute ****...

I would recommend Bill Burr, Liza Lampanelli, Bill Hicks (a true legend), Lenny Bruce (the godfather of standup comedy) and Woody Allen back in the day...His monologues are hysterical...

Larry David??

The Americans are the masters of stand up..We've only produced a handful of genuinely intelligent, provocative and hysterically funny comedians and comedy actors..The rest are either just silly/infantile (morecambe and wise etc), or self indulgent (stewart lee)...The ones that we have produced are all unique and in a class of their own..Kenneth Williams, Billy Connolly etc

These TV friendly so called comedians like Howard, Mcintyre, or even worse..John Bishop.. et al are absolute populist dross..Give me someone thought provoking like Jerry Sadowitz..

"When I was growing up I said I wanted to be a comedian ,everyone laughed at me.

Well, they're not laughing now....."

Good old Mr Monkhouse RIP

I think Kenn Dodd is actually very funny !

Didn't really appreciate Bob as comic, because of course he'd always be fronting some or other incredibly cheesy show , but he was def good

Ive seen jimmy carr, ricky gervais and michael macintyre and they were all brilliant but for me michael macintyre was the funniest, i literally left the show with sore ribs and at times had tears running down my face from laughing so much.

Stewart francis was on before ricky gervais, hes one of my favourite comedians, constant 1 liners, theres another guy called rich hall, both of these are absolutely ace.

I also really like catherine ryan and am possibly in love with her a little bit, i like how filthy she is and reckon shed **** just as filthy too.

I think Sean Lock is hilarious as his sarcasm about every day observations is spot on.

Jack Dee is still very good and Kathryn Ryan is one of the only funny female comedians
