That's the issue though. We've proven that the EU are difficult to negotiate with, they have set out their marker and stood hard and fast by their decision and terms. Regardless of a delay in Brexit or 2nd referendum result their position will not change, so what's the point?

So what are the options for a 2nd referendum? Remain or get behind the deal that nobody wants to back? Or hard Brexit? Realistically these are still our only options here.

Madness.

I do agree with you. If something like the Norway deal is put forward it may be an option to vote on. But it's a halfway house that will never make both sides happy.

What is now being presented is pretty much a variation of remaining. That is not what was implied by the referendum campaigns on either side and certainly not what remain or leave voters voted for: I voted remain based on being told leaving would mean WTO amongst other issues that would occur from a hard exit from the EU.

There was nothing wrong with the question, but plenty wrong with those who are supposed act on that result.

Please, can some ex IRA/IS nut job just bomb the commons next time they have PMQs, wipe the f**king lot out so the rest of the country can have a proper chance at getting a new party and fresh thinking into governance.

I have a very good ex-pat friend living in Norway - he is not a great fan. In fact many Norwegians are not fans either.

I do not know one single leave EU voter that would want a ‘deal’ like that of Norway. They all prefer a hard exit.

I know leave voters that still think we're going to be offered a magic deal that's exactly what we want and who are totally against a hard brexit because that's not what they wanted originally.

So simply because we're brave and proud, we should inflict years of self harm on ourselves?
2 or 3 years is very optimistic too! Even Reece-Mogg estimates 5 to 10 years!
The reality is, even if we can recover to where we are today, we will never recover the losses of the next years!
But at least we'll be able to say "Hurrah, we stuck it to those Johnny foreigners" as we're limping around on our crutches!

How absolutely ridiculous! This has been the problem with the Brexiteers all along; they've never presented a realistic strategy of how taking back control is ever going to make us better off! The only plan is just close your eyes and hope for the best because WE'RE BRITISH! HURRAH!

DEFRA would rather you buy British chicken that is full of Campylobacter.

Just think of the NHS benefit if we import US chicken

don't forget the hormone injected beef!
Maybe that's the strategy to cure the ageing population problem for the NHS. They want everyone to die in their late 50's due to obesity related problems from all the cheap crap food from the US

It's clear we'd see little direct benefit from Trump's great trade deal, so maybe all the benefits are in kind.

On a side note, when do we sign up as the 51st state?

Look, over the past few years over 19% of UK chicken had a contamination level high enough to give you more than just the squits. Lovely

Meanwhile I’ll drink chlorinated tap water, swim in chlorinated swimming pools, clean with cleaners containing chlorine and disinfect baby bottles with it too (milton is just a chlorine tablet).

At least we don’t pump our chickens full of antibiotics (down by over 70% over the past few years) mind, that’s because they don’t work anymore from overusing them (and probably why I’m no longer allergic to eggs )

So clearly you don't understand the issue of chlorinated chicked. Its nothing to do with food safety, but food standards and animal welfare. In the US, they don't care how many deseases the chickes are carrying because they'll kill it with the chlorine afterwards. Half the chickens are dying in their pens from desease rather than in the slaughter house, yet the meat is still being sold. Basically, the chlorine washing is masking much greater problems further up the production line. In the UK/EU the result of banning chlorine washing is the chicken has to be desease free at the time of slaughter, even if that means there are traces of some bacteria which will anyway be killed if you cook it properly!

Anyway, anyone who is really looking forward to chlorinated chicked will now have to wait a bit longer because we're no leaving on March 29th.

What is so bad about the Lisbon Treaty that would justify the economic damage that no deal would do, for example?

Oh I fully understand, I just want UK chicken to be even cleaner than it is of current, rather than it contaminating everything it touches prior to cooking. Fridge, chopping board utensils etc.

Oh well better go munch on a raw carrot...no wait, they’re washed in chlorine too! Must be the UK has poor carrot welfare standards

I digress, this is all really subterfuge as I want zero tariff imports so I can finally import a brand new Tremec T-56 with a custom bellhousing, something that is pure unobtainium within Europe, hell I’d make do with a TKO-600 with a close ratio gearset but even getting that with the custom bellhousing and shift adaptor/extension is like unicorn farts. I could codge it with a aincient Getrag 265, but its a poor alternative as they have a stupid tree-stump pulling 1st with a massive 2nd gear drop and whine under load like your missus.

So, once you've bought your Tremec T-56 with a custom bellhousing, should we rejoin the EU?

Fat ******* are already here. The UK obesity rates are rising faster than the rest of Europe without BREXIT - food rationing may help.
The US already as a 51st - it's called Puerto Rico.

Quick Reply: So Brexit seems to be a good thing then.
