Peugeot closed its Ryton (was Rootes Group) plant and moved production to Slovakia with EU grant.

JDS Uniphase run by two Dutch men, bought up companies in the UK with £20 million in EU 'regeneration' grants, created a pollution nightmare and just closed it all down leaving 1,200 out of work and an environmental clean-up paid for by the UK tax-payer. Now EDF say the costs will be double or more and it will be very late even if it does come online.
Swindon was once our producer of rail locomotives and rolling stock. Not any more, it's Bombardier in Derby and due to their losses in the aviation market, that could see the end of the British railways manufacturing altogether even though Bombardier had EU grants to keep Derby going which they diverted to their loss-making aviation side in Canada.
39% of British invention patents have been passed to foreign companies, many of them in the EU
The Mini cars that Cameron stood in front of as an example of British engineering, are built by BMW mostly in Holland and Austria. His campaign bus was made in Germany even though we have Plaxton, Optare, Bluebird, Dennis etc., in the UK. The bicycle for the Greens was made in the far east, not by Raleigh UK but then they are probably going to move to the Netherlands too as they have said recently.
Anyone who thinks the EU is good for British industry or any other business simply hasn't paid attention to what has been systematically asset-stripped from the UK. Name me one major technology company still running in the UK, I used to contract out to many, then the work just dried up as they were sold off to companies from France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, etc., and now we don't even teach electronic technology for technicians any more, due to EU regulations.I haven't detailed our non-existent fishing industry the EU paid to destroy, nor the farmers being paid NOT to produce food they could sell for more than they get paid to do nothing, don't even go there.
I haven't mentioned what it costs us to be asset-stripped like this, nor have I mentioned immigration, nor the risk to our security if control of our armed forces is passed to Brussels or Germany.Find something that's gone the other way, I've looked and I just can't. If you think the EU is a good idea,
1/ You haven't read the party manifesto of The European Peoples' Party.
2/ You haven't had to deal with EU petty bureaucracy tearing your business down.
3/ You don't think it matters.

ies that bought most of the uk
Copy and pasting fake news and anti-EU propoganda twice, doesn't make it any more true!

Delay to the meaningful vote tomorrow as May knows she's going to lose!

Maybe she'll also put in place an extension to article 50 to allow a peoples vote - lets see what comes up at 3:30.

EU court has given the full response to cancelling article 50 today and confirmed the advice from last week that it can be cancelled unilaterally.

The pound is at a terrible level against the euro, dollar and yen. It’s only going to sink more once fully out.

It was always bound to be messy. In fact almost impossible without a complete mess. It will be more messy than a big bag of messy things. The mess has just begun. Look out, in-coming mess!
Interest rates, mortgage rates, currency exchange, pension forecasts, economic futures, gdp, oil price, petrol price, gas, electricity, food etc. That's without mentioning trade. Bloody hell. Lot's of mess. 😣

This was always going to be messy, vote leave was a real stupid thing to happen.
We want to trade with the EU as we do now, we want no physical border between N.Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Did the UK really think we'd just go to the EU with all these demands and they'd just say yes, no problem?
Its a shambles, and Juncker has already said 'no room whatsoever for renegotiation'

Happy Christmas!

In fairness, its more because of the stupid ******* that gave them a referendum with no clear definition of what Brexit means!

Because leave means different things to different people, and the question was too simple. It was impossible to please everyone (even just those who voted leave), so she has tried to please all and has ended up pleasing no one!

Could the complete shambles be a deliberate ploy? Now that it's confirmed that the UK can unilaterally withdraw Article 50 with absolutely no impact to the current arrangement, TM postponed the vote so that it would be harder for others to come up with an alternative plan (not that anyone has proposed one!). Then given the time contraint and the ensuing shambles and in recognition that people voted to be better off economically, which simpily will not happen and actually be worse off (no one voted to be worse off!), it would strengthen the reason for a vote to be put to the people (again) with the option to accept the deal on offer, no deal and exit or withdraw Article 50 and carry on.

I bet hardly anyone in the lower half of the UK mainland considered the land border separating Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland when voting, which will, quite frankly, be down to ignorance.
It never ceases to amaze me that many people (mostly from London in my experience) think that the currency of Northern Ireland is Euros.

Fixed that for you...I'd say the percentage of leavers that thought about it was minuscule.

WTO or Canada Plus... easy...
We just got a remainer in charge of negotiating - Juncker himself would have got us a better deal!

You wouldn't send Theresa to negotiate buying a car would you? She'd end up paying twice the price and getting the next model down in the worst paint option!

Quick Reply: So Brexit seems to be a good thing then.
