Now Corbyn has thrown his lot in with staying in the customs union (I know, I know' he's not in power, but the current govt's position is becoming untenable), the chances of us avoiding the geo-politcal suicide the brain dead voted for are increasing.

Its been a generation since we have had a 'proper' labour government so I think there is a good chance he will get in...the country will feel the 70's stylee economic pain and they will only get one term.

If said crisps were 70's Smith's Horror Bags, then I'd be more than happy!

The Brexit rubber of delusion, is hitting the road of reality

over the past few weeks it has dawned on Rees Morgue et al that the GFA is incompatible with Brexit unless there is a "wet" border between the island of Ireland and the UK

something that was obvious to anyone more clued up than a house brick

so what do these ****wits do - faced with reality, simply say that the GFA is the problem and needs getting rid of

as with the NRA and guns - the answer is never less guns, but always more guns

as historically with the tobacco companies - the answer was never less cigarettes, but more "low tar" cigarettes

as with Brexit - the answer is never less Brexit but more Brexit

they have belatedly realised that articles 49 and 50 of the agreement we signed in December to pretend that Phase 1 was done and dusted are incompatible

But now the EU is putting that agreement in into a legal form - and it is sending the UK government in a spin

Some people seem pathologically obsessed by this subject, you must be sending your partners potty if you're ranting on about Brexit all day. Or do we rant about it here everyday because the mrs has banned mentioning it in the house?

Life goes on, Brexit or no Brexit. Take a chilly pilly before you have a stroke.

Seriously, it really doesn't seem healthy.

Rubbish. Brexit is the biggest political and economic decision that may affect the UK in 50 years.

I can’t get enough of it. I even watched PMQs and the Emergency Question (to that spineless, no-showing wimp we call our Foreign Secretary) yesterday.

And Mrs SWS says she’s holding off filing for divorce for now on grounds of cost.

I’ve noticed a growing number of Brexiters (like Ding) who are trying to sweep things under the carpet. It’s a sign of embarrassment.

yes it is a growing trend

it is a bit like some who knows they have been conned/ripped off

they don't really want to talk about it and their friends, out of fear of embarrassing them, don't really mention it either

Eh? I'm brushing Brexit under the carpet? How does that work then?

Seriously though, I generally stopped posting on this thread because of the insulting and aggressive manner of one or two of the major contributors. This was despite me saying time and time again that I respected the views of remainers.

And life is too short to waste it arguing with people on the internet, I have no intention of wasting mine.

It looks like we are leaving and thats fine by me, I might be a little poorer in the short term but I'll stomach that. If the whole thing is reversed and we stay.....well I won't spend more than ten seconds worrying about it.

Take a deep breath and relax. Nothing is ever bad as it seems (well sometimes it is)

this is actually one of the more benign ones

there was an earlier one where representatives of the Automotive industry explain the potential impact of Brexit to the commitee

and it was not pretty - amongst other things the UK will lose the ability to offer type approval to cars manufactured in the UK destined for the EU

and the EU have issued "notice to stakeholders" to that effect

for reference

https://ec.europa.eu/info/publicatio...or-vehicles_en

quick and easy to read

the politicians have been told

I suspect SWS that apart from a few true "Believers" - JRM, IDS et al everyone in the media/politics knows what a clusterfvck it is going to be

that when the Mic goes off in an interview - they all go "what a total fvckup this all is"

you only had to look at the face of the returning office when the Sunderland result came thru

it was like "WTF, why are they cheering"

Whilst I think that Brexit will be bad for the motor industry, I don't really see that as a major issue. Anyone selling cars to the EU not in the EU already has to do this, it's not as if the only cars sold in EU are manufactured in the EU.

I'm sure there will be an associated cost, and admin, but still, I would think that is the least of their worries?

yes sure it is all solvable - at a cost, like everything

but not many manufactures sell cars into the EU that are not in the EU, and those that do in the UK - Nissan, Toyota Honda , do so because we are members of the SM/CU

Yes, I suppose most cars we drive are manufactured in the EU (and certainly most of the ones worth driving!).

For someone like Ford, it's going to be a right mess, their facilities seem firmly rooted in making components and moving them around to places where they assemble, not whole vehicles, so I can see them moving most, if not all, of it out of the UK.
