So Brexit seems to be a good thing then.

https://www.gov.uk/government/collec...ns-with-the-eu
for instance the one on "Providing a cross-border civil judicial cooperation framework - a future partnership paper"
here
https://www.gov.uk/government/public...tnership-paper
and it is clear - as the UK government makes clear in the document, that membership of the EU has been a massive boost for our legal industry (we are overwhelmingly a service based industry)
the solution (laughably) is to keep the same beneficial relationship, in other words we have still not moved on from "cake and eat it" position
it is the same with the customs union - the proposals are so laughable it is hard to comprehend just how stupid the politicians are
it is Schrodinger's EU
"simultaneously having no benefits, but the ones it does have we want continued access to"
and they wonder why we are an international laughing stock

The best way the UK could of stopped this issue would have been by not being colonial ***** with the US and France and participating in the overthrow of Gaddafi.
The UK throws itself (either on the ground or through back channels) into every conflict in a troubled region e.g. Afghanistan, Syria, Irag, Libya and then it becomes much, much worse and then the UK and US go "woah, woah woah, this is not our mess, we are not taking the immigrants". These countries should be like a chinaware shop; you break it, you pay for it.

Surprised you lefties are online today, thought you'd be out smashing up historical statues and monuments like your leaders at the Guardian are suggesting;

Toppling statues? Here’s why Nelson’s column should be next

I am not a leftie. I am simply someone who thinks you cannot bomb democracy into people, invade countries at will and then wash your hands of it once you have made it 100 times worse.
And regarding brexit; not a leftie either, just someone who is educated and not a complete imbecile.
I generally sit on the right of the fence but I am not a blind sheep.

For the time being

The EU risks breakup if it fails to overhaul a rule that lets firms send temporary workers from low-wage countries to rich economies without paying local social charges, French President Emmanuel Macron said Thursday.

I think Macron is probably the only hint of influence that may push for EU reform.
In terms of immigration, I very much doubt that'll make any difference to the Roma that have influxed round here. Ironically displacing the Pakistani and Bangladeshi (who absolutely hate them). They are a unwanted population in any country.
They all kick off every now and again; The police just shut off the roads and let them get on with it then once it's over, let the ambulance in to scrape up what's left.

Talking of which, what's going on with TTIP?
Our media are so obsessed with hard/soft Brexit or even no Brexit that there is barely anything factual mentioned about TTIP as of recent.
Trump was against it at the start of the year and was prepared to scrap it like the TPP, but everything reported since wishy washy. Despite its global importance.

Oh dear - the EU have seen past our requirement for the EU to be "flexible and imaginative" and that it is simply - "can we have our cake and eat it"
seems like the Brexidiots are still in the "cake and eat it" phase
so negotiations will probably stall/fail
£ / Euro parity by Xmas?

and Brexidiots wonder why they appear "thick as mince"
Further into his address, Barnier found it necessary to remind the UK that there were "a lot of consequences for citizens, for consumers, for businesses" to leaving the Single Market. "Perhaps not all have been debated in sufficient depth in the United Kingdom", he said, "but now is the time to explain what no longer being a member of the EU and the single market entails".
It was then that he archly noted that, "When I read some of the papers David [Davis] has sent me on behalf of the British Government, in some proposals I see a sort of nostalgia in the form of specific requests that would amount to continuing to enjoy the benefits of the EU and the single market without being a part of it".
and Liam Fox ramblings today in Japan is probably because Japanese businesses have reminded him their investment is in Europe and the EU single market - and the UK is a convenient "landing zone" as it is currently a member

just for reference
https://hansard.parliament.uk/common...2a9c/article50
David Davis in the House of Commons
" I am afraid that it is very difficult to see how we can leave the European Union and still stay inside the single market, with all the commitments that go with that. What we have come up with—I hope to persuade her that this is a very worthwhile aim—is the idea of a comprehensive free trade agreement and a comprehensive customs agreement that will deliver the exact same benefits as we have, but also enable my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade to go and form trade deals with the rest of the world, which is the real upside of leaving the European Union."
simply delusional "cake and eat it" - that and Boris a Foreign Secretary no wonder we are an international laughing stock
