Default Taxing a SORNed car to begin in May?

I've looked online and if I tax now, it will begin from 01/04

I don't want to waste three weeks, so how do I get it to start in May?

I think you will have to wait and tax it on the 1st of May.

What a daft system. If it were already taxed, I could do it now for beginning May.

But they are so afraid I might tax it now and use it in April, doing them out of a week's money......

There is a option I'm sure to take it back to the start of this month?

I done one of mine midway in the month and it was put back to the start....

Exactly......but that means I pay for a whole month and get ten days' use out of it. Not doing THAT, it's expensive enough already.

This new tax system is a bit of a con!
With a lot of cars being sold ending up having tax paid for by both the new and previous owner for the month it's sold in.

I taxed mine from a SORN a couple of days before 1/4 & I got the choice to go back to 1/3 or from 1/4. I chose the latter but I got the warning not to use it before April lol.
it may be that this choice is available in the last week or so of the month 😀

I'll keep trying. Thanks.

1st May is going to be busy, got to road test it after filling up with Momentum and octane booster for the old fuel, then visit three different bodywork places to get quotes for the rear sills.
