Hi,

got a double mains socket that my toddler keeps faffing with (taking the plug out etc) so I wanted to replace with a socket I've seen before ....

I've seen it used in new builds in the kitchen where an appliance connects without a plug directly to the socket and the front plate goes one (slightly curved to house the trailing cable)

Can't for the life of me find what it's called ?!?!

Ideally from B&Q or Screwfix'd be great if somebody has a link

It's an alternative but ideally I wanted something that's what I've described as it's a bit less cumbersome.

I'm sure somebody will know what I'm referring to - imagine a backbox but with the relevant connections on it and the appliance power lead connects directly to that (obviously with no plug). Then the front plate screws in and it is totally plain except for an outlet for the lead to come out from at the bottom

Oh I get you. Just search for fused flex connection, will turn up lots of things like this:
