Arrow Forum Guidelines - Please Read Prior to Using These Forums

Introduction
ScoobyNet is a huge online motoring enthusiasts community, that is run by enthusiasts. The ScoobyNet Forums are for the online interaction of that community. Due to its size and widespread appeal, everything we post is seen by thousands of people around the world, which means we have a duty of care that the content of the forums are legal and of a good and decent nature.

Whilst (incredibly for a community of its size) ScoobyNet is proud of the fact that occasions when this is not adhered to are very very rare, it does happen, so we have one of the finest teams of moderators you will find anywhere in the world.

What are Moderators?
Our Moderator Team is here to monitor and (where necessary) edit / move / delete posts in order to protect the short and long term good of the ScoobyNet community. They are active members of the community, but also give up huge amounts of their own time (free of charge) to support you. They follow a strict set of guidelines which have been developed and refined over the years, placing the good of the community as the primary focus.

If your post is moved, edited, locked, deleted, etc... this will NEVER be a direct or personal attack on you. It will only be as a result of the guidelines that you can see below and will always put the community first, over any individual's personal ideals.

When will my thread be edited/deleted?
o Pornography, links to Pornography or links to other inappropriate sites.
o Swearing : Whilst the censored versions of swearing (eg s**t, etc) are usually considered OK, offensive / overuse of this may offend and may be moderated. In addition to this, any deliberate circumvention of the swear word filters is prohibited. Common sense prevails. Eg, the use of images which have swear words in them are not acceptable.
o Incitement to a flame war within this or any other forum
o Any sort of pyramid selling or referral schemes
o The advertising and sale of illegal bootleg material (such as copied DVDs, VCDs and computer software)
o Xenophobia, racism or personal abuse
o Spam or any other form of unauthorised advertising.
o Anything invasive of a person's privacy.
o Anything that is deemed by Scoobynet as potentially libelous.
o Flagrant disregard for the interests of the community(anti community spirit)
o Sensitive content that cannot be moved, locked edited.
o No part of the topic/message is salvageable by editing Illegal/defamatory statements
o Remove any copyright-infringing material (either text or graphic)
o Basically, whenever there is no value to the community that demands leaving the topic/message in place.

Editing is always visible to the community; whenever a message is edited, the date/time/edit author are shown within the message

Scoobynet reserves the right to remove, or edit any thread for legal or other reasons.

When will a thread be locked?
o If there are persistent abuses of the behavior mentioned above.
o Unacceptable behavior (as determined by the tone of the community; e.g. making inflammatory comments, flame wars etc etc)
o Completely off-topic discussion
o No part of the topic/message is salvageable by editing

Scoobynet reserves the right to lock any thread for legal or other reasons.

When will a thread be moved?
o When the thread clearly belong in another forum
o When the topic moves onto a subject more appropriate to another forum.
o A thread will be moved to the Muppets where it’s deemed too “silly” for other forums.

Guidelines for placement of threads**
Scoobynet Forums have been sub-divided in to specific categories to assist you the members to be able to effectively post threads in a logical manner, and also allow members to effectively view/find information easily.

Below is an outline of specifics scenarios (for examples), but generally anything that is not specifically concerning the forum title and description may be moved to another directly associated forum by the moderation team.

*For Sale posts if not in the FOR SALE forums, will be moved to the FOR SALE forum.
*Technical posts (for motorcars) if not in the TECHNICAL forum, will be moved to the TECHNICAL forum (technical threads concerning items like DIY, COMPUTERS & MOTORBIKES should be kept to the respective specialist forums on Scoobynet)
*Was It You posts if not in the WAS IT YOU forum, will be moved to the WAS IT YOU forum.
*Muppet posts if not in the MUPPET forum, will be moved to the MUPPET forum.

**The above are black and white scenario's, but please beware that anything that is BLATANTLY in the incorrect forum, will of course be moved to the appropriate forum (that may not be covered in the above forum examples).

Note: While we of course try our utmost to ensure threads are in the correct forum, ultimately it is down to the poster to ensure that the correct forum is being used in the first instance. While the moderators do try there best to ensure everything is categorised correctly, some threads may get missed. From time to time we will review forum structure and may make changes as and when required.

Scoobynet reserves the right to move any thread for any reason

What is "potentially libellous"?
Libel is a very complicated part of the law. The general concept is that anything that cannot be proved by hard fact which could be considered damaging to a company or individual may be libellous.

What may be considered to be potentially libellous, is something where the above applies and ScoobyNet itself does not have the hard facts to prove without doubt that what is being said is accurate.

Due to legal complications that ScoobyNet could be considered liable for libellous comments posted by users, we have to show a continued and consistent practice of due-diligence which protects us against potential legal action.

This means deleting / editing posts containing this kind of material and taking every action reasonably possible to stop it being posted in the first place. For this reason, ANY potentially libellous content may be deleted immediately without warning or explanation.

Commercial posts
Commercial Posts may be locked or removed if posted in any forum. A commercial post is defined as any post by employees or their associates that benefits either, directly or indirectly the company involved. This includes any company press releases, statements or advertising of practices of any kinds.

Racist posts/comments
Scoobynet will NOT tolerate racist comments. The members in general will not tolerate it either, which is displayed in any topic that someone posts a racist comment.

No matter how innocent or "jokey" the comment may be, this medium is a black and white text only medium, where thousands of people may view your comments.

Repeatedly posting of racist comments will result in being banned from scoobynet, and / or potentially more serious action being taken.

---

Above all else, use your common sense, and be respectful and decent to people and companies.

Additional.

For Sale Items

There are two ways to post an item up for sale on Scoobynet. The first is to purchase a 12 month Scoobynet Plus subscription, which in addition to allowing you to post in for sale will allow you to gain access to all subscriber forums in Scoobynet and give you discounts in items in the Scoobyshop.

The second is to purchase a one month subscription to the for sale forums.

If you do not subscribe to either of the above, you can only reply to for sale items and not start a new thread.

You can sign up to either option here. http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/subscriptions.php?

Any thread containing items for sale, posted outside of the for sale forums will be deleted.

Group Buys
There is a temporary group buy forum in the Private Classified section. This is for any discussions relating to the proposal, setting up or running of group buys. This forum will be replaced with a group buy facility when time allows.

For Sale - Additional
Please be aware that Scoobynet takes NO responsibility for any issues between buyer and seller. Goods are advertised and bought at the risk of the individuals concerned. Scoobynet will not allow "Name & Shame" content within the forums and any such material will be removed. All issues need to be resolved out side of Scoobynet.

Unauthorised Advertisers
Due to abuse by the minority, we have no choice but to implement more stringent T&C's for people / companies breaking our commercial posting policy.

New policy is now inforce that clearly states the following (this list is NOT exhaustive and can include anything ScoobyNet determines as breaking this policy):

Anyone that has or has made:

1. Commercial username (this is an immediate banning offence)
2. Commercial content in their profile
3. Commercial content in posts / threads relating to their company (i.e. prices, contact info etc)

Except for point 1, will be given ONE warning. No subsequent warnings will be given and an instant ban will be issued.

Normal ScoobyNet Users
This does not effect you for posting purposes as long......

If you have no connection with a company / person that supplies products / services etc, you can of course quote information or give information. Regardless of person though, commercial usernames and commercial content in your profile is forbidden regardless.

If you wish to discuss oppourtunities available to give you the above facilities, please contact webmaster@scoobynet.co.uk

To the community - Whilst we endeavour to ensure the longterm sustainability of ScoobyNet is maintained (which is helped by advertisers), we would urge you to help us by reporting anything that breaks the above policy. We do try to capture these issues, but your help in highlighting these that can go un-noticed will assist us no end.

Regards,
Shaun.
