Default 65 WRX STi

Hi all,

A bit late to the show. I’m a car enthusiast based in South Wales with a passion for Subaru's. The passion stemmed from watching Colin Mcrae through the Welsh forestry stages as a kid. I have owned this low milage example now since 2nd April 2022.

It was bought from Dorset Sportscars at 29k miles with great spec, I knew this was the perfect foundation for my ultimate fast road subaru build. Being a big Subaru enthusiast, I know this car would be the perfect car to compliment my subaru collection sitting next to my sonic blue Type R. Owning these cars has been a life long dream, owning the first shape impreza to what arguably could be the last of it’s kind.

The car was bought with the following mods:

- HT autos splitter kit
- Milltek Resonated catback
- Milltek Sports cat
- Tein lowering springs
- Team dynamics wheels
- ECUTEK

I have big plans for this car, I want to build the car I think subaru should have built out the factory and to enjoy every minute of it.

Around 16/07 I decided I wanted more from the exhaust. The milltek was too tame for my liking and wanted a bit more grunt. We went with the AWE track exhaust supplied by Neil at VIP motorsport. What a difference, giving that group A rally vibes😎 Slipped on my private plate and a few debadges here and there and the rear end was looking cleaner than ever.

Next on the list was new wheels and rubber. Wanting to retain some rally heritage I decided to go with speedline turini’s wrapped in goodyear eagle f1’s. Sitting a lot wider and being lighter than the team dynamics, I feel this was a massive difference to the aesthetics of the car as well as drivability with the stickier rubber.

We then moved on to the engine. I decided to stick with the 2.5 and get it forged rather than go down the 2.35 route as it will be used mainly as a road car and to retain some originality. Going for a solid 500bhp build, the spec will be as follows:

Block bored and skimmed
Cdb conversion
Acl race bearings
H beam rods
Wiseco pistons
11mm oil pump
New oil pickup tube
14mm headstud conversion
RCM/Cosworth headgaskets
RCM TGV delete
EGR delete
PCV delete
Secondary air pump delete
Fuelab FPR
Perrin AOS
GSC titanium valve springs and retainers
Ported engine heads
Competition stage 3 clutch new OEM flywheel
Heads fully rebuilt and skimmed
All new subaru seals and gaskets as required

Below to be phase 2 of the build April 2023:

1000cc injectors
Precision 5530 turbo
Process west front mount
RCM UEL headers (Can’t part with the rumble!)
Harvery trick up pipe
RCM catless downpipe
