Default Smurf's Scooby

Thought I should start a thread and introduce myself to the guys and girls on here. My names Chris Murphy from Glasgow (Feel free to add me on facebook.) I bought my 1st Impreza almost a month ago now. It's a big step up from my Glanza which I thought was quick, but this car is on another level. no more useless power spinning away from the front end, just good old fashioned grip lol I'm obviously biased but I would say its immaculate. Probably the reason I wash it every time I get the chance. It used to belong to a member on here called EvoRach and you can tell its been well looked after. Changed the oil & filter for the 1st time at the weekend. Fuchs Titan Race Pro 5w-40. Also got some pink Sti valve caps from Scoobyparts.com.

Welcome Chris. I'm a Glasgow boy too.

Nice motor. You got any plans for it?

Scoobies are funny; when you get one and then drive something else it's like nothing compares to it. I've had my bug from new since 2001 and it's never skipped a beat after 117k miles.

Look after it mate and you'll never look back. All the best.

Got my car booked in at Andy Forrest in September. Could've been August but im working away. If you read the spec of my car it is supposedly running 365bhp but i plan to get that checked as well as get a low power mode. Im currently running a standard sti manifold but from the turbo back is full stainless. What i want to know is will i get more power if i upgrade the manifold ?? Does it matter if i fit the manifold before the map and if i do fit it am i best to do so as close to mapping day as the car will have been mapped with current manifold. ?? Car is still on standard turbo.
Cheers guys

I see they haven't changed a bit. These sort of dealers never learn...muppets.
Enjoy the car

Looking good there mate, 365 on a VF35 is very good as usually you need to port the headers, inlet and maybe run a billet compressor wheel or a meth mix to acheive those figures.

Most STis, and a number of others, in standard form usually have a limiter 1000rpm below the guided redline for safety reasons i.e. tyres, etc. As yours is running 365hp you would probably see 165-170mph out of it but would be circa its limit (engine wise, the gearing is fine for speeds of around 200mph).

Regards,

Subaru Collector 555.

Could well be less im only goin by piston heads advert. Said mapped to 365bhp n 345ft/lbs at some performance place. No dyno pront out to prove. Ther is an older dyno printout in the paperwork that says 345bhp and i think it was 365ft/lbs. mabey a mix up or a more recent map. even at 345 bhp it feels quick.

Best bet would be to get on a dyno for a power run only cost around £70 (usually less) to find out what power its running exactly.

very nice car bud. im in scotland as well. 365 is the top end of what a vf35 will give so if it is running that power then nice one! i have a bug sti and im hoping to get a session with andy f soon to see what mine is running and maybe up the power a bit as ive got ported headers decat and induction to go on. mine has paperwork saying its had an ecutek remap to 300 bhp so quite a conservative map but does feel quick at that power now that i replaced the boost pill which ra motorsport discovered was missing lol. its boosting around 1.2-3 bar with a 1mm pill in place and pulling like a train and afr,s etc look spot on using dash command to check lambda. would be well chuffed if my 35 gave that sort of power! enjoy her m8.

Cars been to Andy Forrest. 355bhp 352 torque. With a gd few extra pops and bangs. Have 270 odd on low. Really happy. Think boost is 1.4 and 0.5.

Wasnt less than 8. Been in touch with previous owner since buying it. **** happens when u buy from a dealer. You would lose more depreciation on a new corsa lol. Was the best blobeye one for sale at the time. Couldve waited a month or 2. Saved a bit. But i wanted it ther n then. Just impatient.

Nice looking car and with some nice mods. 355 makes for a very quick road car. Looks like you had a bit of a touch with the number plate too, unless its a private one, looks like your name from a distance!

Yea cheers mate its fast enough lol. Was gonna buy SM03 URF. But it was 1300 just couldn't justify it. Would rather spend that on bigger turbo.

Okay guys, Little update as it's been a while,

Car now has an SC42 which has been upgraded by Owen Developments.
To help this along I've got a set of GT-Spec headers and a harvey up-pipe.
To help fuel it I have a set of Power Enterprise 800cc Injectors and Sytec FPR.
Also fitted a Turbosmart 3 Port boost solenoid.

I have no idea what to expect from this set up, on the previous set up I took it to the Dyno at Ecotune in Glasgow and ran 334bhp/332ft/lbs. I later found this was with two loose spark plugs.

I have the car booked into Andy Forrest on April 1st for mapping, so i will let you guys know what it makes then.

Ok ,

So new turbo got mapped Friday, as you can see a gd bit more lag than the vf35 it replaced but when it wakes up it certainly pulls much better,

May have got a better result with ported oem headers, but thts hindsight for ya,

Doesnt drop off boost between shifts atall must be the ball bearing turbo

I had a TD05-20G on my last STI, It was a little laggy but nothing a downshift wouldn't sort out! And as you say when they get going its more than worth it!

Matt.
