Cluster / HVAC / Cenral Locking Module
Ok, so I decided to switch out the default bulbs to LED's in the cluster and HVAC.
Easy job, only took about 20 minutes but when I switched them on to test I noticed straight away one fried, little puff of smoke and that electrical smell.
So, changed that bulb and tried again, all lights worked except for speedo / rev / fuel / temp and the CEL came on.
Checked bulbs, fine. Checked fuses, fine. Plugged in ODB, no faults.
Found out that when the bulb went it fried part of the cluster circuit! So I got out the soldering iron and fixed the break, CEL went out and all bulbs worked again.
All done, or so I thought.
Now when I get out of the car and lock it the keyring illumination stays on and the interior light no matter whether it's in the on position or door position.
All door switches are tested and fine, all fuses are good. So I turned the interior light off and removed the keyring bulb for now until I find a fix.
From what I've read so far it seems to be connected to the Central Locking Module under the drivers side dash, behind the immobiliser keypad.
Does this sound right? If so, if I switch the module for a new one is it plug and go or will it need some sort or programming for my vehicle?

P.S: Car is a 2004(53 plate) WRX wagon.

Haha, yeah, found your thread about five minutes after posting mine.
I'll keep this updated, if you find a fix let us know too.

Ok, so I got myself a replacement central locking module, plugged it in and boom, all back to normal, no need to program anything just plug and go.
