If you have the original fog lamps then i believe they are H3's,if you have had a driving light conversion then they should be H2's iirc.

Foglights are H3's mate, and have a short wire with a spade connector on. Considering that when you use your fog lamps they only light up about about 1 mtr of road , if your thinking of changing the bulbs then imho you might want to consider some osram nightbreaker/plus bulbs . I had some of these fitted on my 99 uk turbo and they were a big improvement over the STD bulbs.

As above.

Why not get rid of the foglights, which are only useful for poseurs anyway, and replace with driving lights? Then you can SEE where you are going at night!

+1 for above : Luckily on my current 00 uk turbo ,i have cibie oscar driving lights with 130 watt bulbs, which when used on long winding country roads you can literally see for miles ahead.Expensive but worthwhile imho.

Long WINDING country roads?

I know Cibie are good, but they must be brilliant lights if they let you see round corners

When you say diving lights do you mean the small spots lights, or diffrent bulbs? As i thought it was illegal to have them on while not in fog?

No , the spot lights are the same size as your o/e fog lights. The difference is in the lenses. Spotlights lights must be wired to come on when you have your high beam on, where as foglights have an individual switch on the dash, which you press when you drive in foggy conditions . You can normally tell if they are spotlights on a classic impreza as they tend to stick out more than the STD foglights which are normally quite flush fitting in the bumper(look at a RB5). Also you are correct it is illegal to drive with your fog lights on in
normal weather,& most people who do it think it looks cool to drive around with there sidelamps on & there foglights on, even if they can't see where there going.

I like the fact that driving lamps allow you to see much much further
up the road ,so when your blasting down a B road late at night , your not applying the brakes when the car is upside down in a ditch.

You could try just upgrading your headlamp bulbs to these:

I personally have these :
