Default "Angel-Eye" Headlamps Fitting

Any information would be greatly appreciated...

Does anyone have fitting / wiring instructions for these beggars? I'm trying to wire them up to a MY98 Impreza but I'm at the stage where I need to use the car quite soon so any advice would be most useful.

Do you not have the loom with them? Should be a straight fit onto existing headlamp plug with a requirement to splice into the sidelights for the "Angel Eyes" part.

If no loom, can send you the diagram of the layout.

Cheers mate. I've got the loom. The three problems I have are the two long red leads which I think should go straight onto the battery? Is this correct? From memory, if fitting Morrettes, the two lamps should be linked togther somehow; I'm unsure which wires to use for this.

Lastly, can you recommend a way to splice into the sidelamp wires?

Ta,

Ken

I'm at work just now, so can't check my diagram, but from memory, yes, the red wire which comes from the relay goes direct to the battery.

From the "Angel Eye" part of the lamps, connect the two "sidelight" wires from one lamp unit to the other (in one assembly) and run the two wires from the second unit through the inner wing to allow soldering on to the cars' original sidelight wiring.

I would also place an in-line fuse on the red wire for the relay if it doesn't have one. (As close to the battery as possible)

Thanks for replying. I wasn't certain about the lights ie. was thinking about reverting back to the standard ones because I had to ensure the car was operational for work tomorrow so presently I've hooked the side lights back up and have the inner parts of the new lamps functioning (but they're dim as a dim thing!).

If I understand you correctly RE the red & black wires which come from the "Angel-Eye" part of the unit : there are two black and two red per unit. What I should do is to join the two small black wires on one lamp together, same with the small red ones, and then somehow feed these to the side light source?

Also, I would like to clarify that the two larger red live leads ie. one per light with the brass end connectors should go straight onto the +ve battery terminal?

Ta Again,

Ken

D'Oh! I totally forgot about the Ravensblade site. I've been on the Nasioc, I-Club and various Japanese ones.

You've got it right Ken.
All i did was cut down the +ve/-ve (red/black) wiring on one lamp to reduce cable length and splice into the other lamps' red/black wiring. The length of wiring on the second lamp unit extends into the inner wing area to wire into the sidelight.

Sorry mate, I'm not a car spark, but I can provide some experience.

I wasn't too impressed with the Angel lights and crapped it at severing my side light cables in case I should change my mind.

I believe that there are lights from different sources currently circulating, some not "E" approved, watch at MoT time.

I bit the bullet and fitted Morettes. Still not too impressed though with the beam, but they look really good. My recommendation would be to buy the Morettes, fit the upgraded bulbs (do a s/net search, the thread's out there!) and then put on the units. I know that I can upgrade my bulbs but they are fiddly ******* to work with - there's not a lot of space under the bonnet of an Impreza.

On the original lights I ended up running 100W off-road bulbs. Illegal, I know, but they were great. Some people have said that they will over-heat your loom too; didn't happen to me.

Just your luck, I suppose.

I've still got the Angels in their original box...

K.

can i just ask why there is a +wire? i mean i have a set of these lights and havnt fitted the single red +wire. they appear to work fine to me. do the relays need a live feed (+wire to battery) to work?

Too long ago to remember now, but IIRC, were the +ve red wires not to supply power to the relays for the lights?

Knowing the search function on this site, he was probably searching for "Anglepoise".
