Default Electric Window Problem

My drivers side window does not always go down when I use it for the first time in any journey, but generally after multiple presses of the button it starts to work. Once it starts to work it seems to work faultlessly for the remainder of my journey.

After a bit of investigation it appears to work the first time when I use the car if I lower it minutely before I leave the car on the previous journey.

I have tried replacing the window motor but that didn't seem to help.

Any ideas?

Thanks

I suppose that's the next logical step but wondered if anybody else had a similar problem that has been diagnosed.

I would have thought a faulty switch would either work or not.

Might be sticking. With it up, remove the door card and clean out and lubricate the runners, also the bits of the linkage where there is a join.

If all else fails, do try a new switch. Cheap as chips off ebay and a doddle to change.

Thanks.. Sounds like a fun job for the weekend. I'll get it all cleaned and lubed and see how it goes. If that doesn't cure it I'll grab a replacement switch.

It could be worth taking the switch apart and cleaning the contacts up.

Update : I haven't had time to do anything yet but everything is fine as long as I don't put the window fully up.

I have just noticed that the drivers window is stopping much too high, which is probably causing the issue. Does anybody know how to adjust the stopping height?

Update 2: after more looking and playing its the side closest to the front of the car that is going too high looks like one bolt to adjust and fingers crossed problem solved.

Did you solve this issue by adjusting the window?

I have same problem. Tried a new switch set from mattybr5's, it worked for a bit then same problem after about two weeks when the motor completely died, luckily as the window got to the top closed position!
Got a motor from mattybr5's, managed to fit it without removing all the window and mechanism, lubed it all up and worked for a while before same issue two months later!
It did seem like the window was going up really tight to the top of the mirror angled bit and I could often here the motor trying to do something as I'm driving along.
Now it's not working at all again, feel like I'm missing something that's the root cause here, help please!

Sorry beefo I completely missed your post.

I haven't cured the problem but I found a way around it. If I get the window to the fully closed position and then just tap the down button so that it barely moves I can still use the window fine next time I'm in the car. It's not an ideal fix but it works until a true resolution is found.

If anyone else can advise it would be great.
