A superb service here, it makes a real difference not to deal with people who treat you as a road hooligan for driving one of these.

£ 487 for a 2000 Turbo with some mods....

I believe most Subaru drivers are a much better risk than the average hatchback driver, I know that I take as much care of mine as I do with my child!

If I can cancel my current policy with minimal losses I will change over now as a matter of principle.

Counting back the last 10 years I have paid £11,500 into these companies and never asked for a penny in return, damn it really adds up

Tony,

A few people seem to be unsure here so could you possibly clarify a point please. When you insure with your company and you ask the person insuring the car for the cars value, are they suppose to state the value of a standard car or the value of the car with all its modifications ? I know in the event of a claim you guys cover the mods but do you have to state them in the vehicle price ?

Many thanks !

Ricky !

Hi Ricky,

Just to clarify, the value you should propose for your vehicle is the market/sale value of your vehicle with the modifications fitted to your vehicle.

This will apply and be the same for all market value based Insurer schemes.

Our policies include like for like replacement of individually stolen or damaged parts where the vehicle isnt a total loss. In event of a Total loss claim your vehicle will be valued by a qualified independent motor engineer, who will take the modifications into account when confirming the market value of the vehicle at the time of a claim.

Alternatively, some of our schemes permit an agreed value option. Which effectively means some legwork at the start of the policies (pics/receipts etc) to substantiate your suggested total vehicle valuation, but would result in your vehicle being valued at the start of the policy & would apply for the duration of the policy.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Guys,

Sorry to all you imported impreza drivers, but our Underwriters dont currently cover imported vehicles that were not originally sourced from Subaru UK or an EU franchised Subaru dealer owned by international motors (owners of Subaru UK).

Parts supply and repair was the historic problem, which unless something changes (ie Subaru UK support supply/repair of imports) it may be some time until we're able to offer cover to the imported models.

If things change we'll post on here and will track back all the guys who asked for import quotes to PM them.

In the meantime, it's UK first registered vehicles only im afraid.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi 71/200,

We have checked this with international motors (Subaru UK) on numerous occasions (some of which were within the last 3 years), as this is the primary reason that we do not cover the vehicles.

Historically we did cover the imported models, but ordering parts from Japan (or several specialists) due to the local Subaru dealer not repairing or supplying parts once the chassis number was supplied had proven to be both onerous and problematic.

There were delays in receipt of parts caused by importing parts, heightened storage costs (for bent metal on garage forecourts) and increased hire car charges whilst awaiting arrival of parts.

If you could provide the name and contact details of the dealer, we will investigate once again this both with your local dealer and Subaru UK.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Ulsterscooby & ALL,

Just to let you know that periodically we do look to re-assess the prior models that did not perform well for us against the current market climate and conditions.

Lancer EVO (UK & Imported) and imported Subaru Impreza models have been assessed successfully behind the scenes over the last 6 weeks, which has resulted in their reinstatement from today on a pilot basis.

The value of used models of these vehicles has decreased over the last 3 years and from a Subaru perspective, although still not supported properly by international motors (Subaru UK) the parts availability has improved considreably through third party specialists since we last covered these.

There will be criteria imposed, which will consist of High performance vehicle driving experience of all drivers covered for at least 12 months, a Full UK licence must be held for 3+ years, a minimum of 2 years actual (not named driver or company car) NCB must be available to use on our policy and drivers must be aged 23+ (Subaru Impreza) or 25+ (Lancer EVO) respectively.

It's a tentative pilot that (with our last experience being 3 years ago) we will look to gather some current data from.

If the same trends have continued and albeit with reduced costs our losses show the same excessive patern we will review the pilot and withdraw models as we go. Also, should we experience the same level of single vehicle accidents the responsible individuals will be declined future terms from renewal.

Basically, the longer term reinstatement will hinge upon the collective performance of the owners of these models. Thus you can help both yourself and your co-owners by not being involved in high speed loss of control incidents, or being extremely diligent as to where your vehicle (and it's keys) are located.

As with some of the higher value marques it is likely that Tracking devices will be required for higher value EVO/Impreza models.

To end on a positive note, we can also cover modified examples of both of the above.

Kind regards

Tony

Thumbs up

I have previously used Endsleigh and Admiral over the past couple of years as they cover imports without a problem. As Admiral were going to charge me £120 extra for a fixed penalty 3 point speeding offence, I tried these guys.

They managed to knock £140 off my previous premium so I have given them my business. Also they are very efficient, (majority of transaction online), and its handy to be able to declare all mods to an insurer without a huge hike to the price!

Insurance on modified & imported limited edition scoobs in NI used to be a nightmare even for a 'mature' over 40 driver like myself. I would recommend giving Greenlight a call, especially if you drive a modified import.

Hi 71/200,

We reply to EVERY quotation, so if you apply and do not hear by the next working day at the latest (for referred quotations) it's best to give our office a call on 01277 263030 - select the existing customer or already applied option and ask our guys to check into this for you.

Unless we're added to your safe list some Spam/Junk filters do often pick our quotations up, which is annoying as the e-mailed quotation confirms all details and acts as a 21 day guarantee.

Alternatively, PM me with your actual name, postcode & date of birth - i'll be able to confirm then re-send the quotations.

Kind regards

Tony
