Lightbulb 01277 650866 Northern Ireland - Performance car Insurance

Following the success of our mainland Insurance schemes, Greenlight are branching out and expanding into offering cover to Northern Ireland residents.

The cover is on an identical basis to that offered under our existing schemes, which includes:

- Like for Like replacement of modified parts
- Agreed value option (modified cars)
- Trackday cover option

So, if you drive a modified or standard Subaru and want to see what we can offer either call us on 01277 650866 or visit Greenlight Insurance - Greenlight Insurance Car Insurance, Modified Car Insurance, Travel Insurance.

Kind regards

Tony Fehily
Senior Partner

Ps. Other schemes are available for other modified/performance Makes/Models in Northern Ireland

Great news, we'll potentially depending on how competitive you are.

Still, the more companies covering Northern Ireland the better in my opinion.

Thanks Shaun,

Ive been to Coleraine on business many times over the last 8 years, you seem to have an abundance of well educated IT professionals over there and we deal with a software house over there.

The place is great, the locals are always very hospitable and whilst on business over there we did notice a good proportion of performance, modified and top-end vehicles.

You do seem to get a bit of a rough deal over there, as it does seem to be a limited market and practically every Insurance advert or promotion seems to exclude Northern Ireland.

We have been looking to expand our range of modifed & specialist vehicle products to the province for some time now, at this stage it's a case of dealing with our owners club/forum connections to souce business from there but assuming all goes well we will look to expand to promote more overtly.

With regard to rating, we have built an outline rating schedule specifically for Northern Ireland and with this being our first entry into the market we will look to refine this as we go on an ongoing basis. Which does afford individuals such as yourself the opportunity to feedback information, along with your views and requirements to assist with development of your scheme.

Our products offer relevant benefits to you (ie. like for like replacement of modified parts, Track cover options, agreed value options for heavily modified vehicles) and decent levels of cover.

With the profile of the province, coupled with what seems to be a restricted Insurance market - we are hoping to expand our successful established mainland operation to add another useful option to the Northern Irish performance & modified vehicle owners along with writing a decent volume of business that will ensure scheme longevity.

Kind regards

Good update Tony,

Its been bad for insurance cover here in the past, but over the last maybe 5 years its gotten gradually better and more and more UK mainland insurance companies are now starting to quote here.
Unfortunately many of them are not that competitive, but at least it keeps the local firms honest.

I have enquiried for a quote from Greenlight, which did come back and is pretty competitive by the way which is a good start.

Insurance cover here is still pretty poor though in comparison with mainland prices.

I mean, I'm no kid anymore - far from it, but for an MY05 UK STI with no mods, full no claims for a 37 year old living in what I'd class as a decent area its still £800-£900.
I know a few guys in the uk with the same cars, even with the PPP fitted and they're paying half what I'm paying.

Oh, and I probably happen to know the software house you mention quite well - assuming I'm thinking of the same one that does car insurance software?

I'm also in the software business, but not competitors of the above, we're financial/distribution software.

Good luck with everything, I sincerely hope that it works out and you get decent return for your investment, as I said locally people are fed up with insurance, so if you're very competive you should do very well.

All the best,
Shaun

Hi Shaun,

Thanks for the kind response.

At the moment we are looking to transact business for performance (hot hatch upward) and modified vehicles, but we do intend to expand to offer other products (ie. Kit cars, custom, classic) in due course.

We are finding our way at the moment, but we are flexible, offer good levels of cover and are prepared to listen to our customers when developing their scheme.

Kind regards

Tony

shame u dont quote under 21's...do u think u will in the near future?

im with ecarinsurance at the minute, and they were the cheapest for me by far! although they dont seem to like any modifications...just to change my steering wheel my quote went up by over £200

Sounds very extreme - theyre charging more than the steering wheel to cover it for just a year

From what i've seen though, they do seem quite good for standard everyday cars.

They're the direct arm of Southern Rock Insurance Co, who are based in Gibraltar and trade under the freedom of services provision.

At this stage our underwriters have no plans to cover under 21's, but if the situation does change we will publicise the situation.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Tony,

Best of luck with your new venture over here. We have needed this for a long time so hopefully you guys can be competitive. Modified cars were always a headache to try to insure.

Anyone had a quote from these guys yet ? Any good ?

Tesco have started quoting over here and seem to be very reasonable for Subaru's. Any opinions on either of these companies ?

Ricky !

Hi Ricky,

Many thanks for wishing us well.

Performance & modified vehicles are 'in our blood', they're all we cover and have done so successfully on the mainland for 11 years now.

We've been lobbying for some time to be allowed to expand to cover the province, which after a period of due diligence came to fruition this summer.

From our perspective, although initially slow going for the first month or two we have built up momentum and have arranged a decent number of policies over the last quarter.

Our technical knowledge is good in terms of vehicles and their modifications, we are keen to expand within the province and will be maintaining a competitive offering by refining our rating on a constant ongoing basis through close monitoring of any claims that we receive from policyholders within Northern Ireland.

Initially it will be a case of our finding our way and tuning into the Northern Irish rating structures, but this shouldn't take too long and once established our rating will be driven by claims received from this sector (ie. premium in vs claims paid).

From a Northern Irish policyholders perspective clearly it will be a case of "the more the merrier", as other Insurance providers entering the province will freshen up the market by offering differing options and cover.

Competition is good for the market and will help to keeping rates competitive for you.

Overall, we're happy to be covering the province and will do all we can to keep the performance/modified vehicle community motoring there.

Kindest regards

Tony

Hi Fastbloke,

Mainstream wise, unless the vehicle is a performance model we are unlikely to be able to assist.

We have always targetted the perfomance/modified client, which we feel represent better risks through the pride taken in their vehicle.

This is reflected within our statistics and our rates are geared to be competitive from a Hot hatch entry level, through to performance vehicles.

Vehicle owners with performance enhancing modifications are always regarded as enthusiasts.

Kind regards

Tony

Sorry to hear that Jonny...

Northern Ireland has been a recent expansion to our schemes, assuming a successful run in N.I. we may look to lobby for scheme expansion.

If that happens, we'll let you know

Kind regards

Tony

I have also just moved to Greenlight from Elephant, again another excellent quote direct from Tony himself. Have to admit I am impressed by these guys knowledge of vehilces and products and wouldnt hesitate to reccommend them.

My old car (a MY99 UK Turbo 2000) was sold on Saturday night and I have just got a text from the guy who bought it off me to say he has taken my advice and also signed up to Greenlight.

Tony, what sort of commission do I get for new policies LOL

Thanks again for making the insurance question a bit more straightforward.

Cheers

Scott

Hi Tony,

My finance has just submitted her details with me as a named driver and I have to say I was impressed with not only the quote but with the speed of the service. My return email came within 10 minutes of asking for a quote. Your guaranteed our buisness in about two weeks time when our old policy expires. When I phone up can I ask for you ? I would just like to verify a few things before making payment. Also is the Sigma M30 alarm which is fitted to these Subaru cars as standard elegible for Thatcham level 1 or 2, or would I have to get something else fitted before my insurance renewal ?

Attention all Northern Ireland Subaru owners ...... give these guys your buisness. When have we ever had a decent modified car company insurer with decent quotes ??????

Regards and thanks !

Ricky !

Hi Ricky,

Glad to hear that a) you like us and b) we could help.

I'm sorry for not responding sooner, this was due to my being away from work through paternity leave from 25th April and only returning this week.

The Sigma M30 device was Thatcham level 1 approved and was delisted in December 2006, this device was approved to Category 1 at the time it was fitted to the vehicle and as such would still be acceptable to our Underwriters.

Kind regards

Tony

Ps. Thanks to Alanb & Markmark - your comments are very much appreciated, we're not just the usual 'men in grey' - we do understand cars, modifications and the requirements of the performance/modified vehicle owner/driver.

Hi Drew,

I'm afraid not, we currently only cover UK first registered vehicles.

This is currently under review and if the situation changes i'll post on here.
