4WD rolling road now in Ireland!!!
#1
I was reading this months Carsport magazine and I see that's there now a 4 wheel drive rolling road in Cookstown N. Ireland, Triple 7 has any one any experience of them.
They do Motec Ecu's which along with LINK seems to be the most popular. But the equipment is only as good as the operator. There is a blue scooby pictured on the rollers in the article.
Maybe there might be enough interest to do a rolling road shootout to see who actually owns the most powerful scooby in Ireland, but seeing how quiet the forum is I doubt there will be enough interest...
Also it measures road speed so all the bull**** stories of 160mph in a scooby can be checked as it could measure the speed before the rev limiter in 5th!!!!

Well David Cookstown is a long way from most of us in the the repubilic. What car do you have? And an indicated 160mph is very achievable with the wind behind you and maybe a slight slope. The cars gearing is well up to this, unless you have an import that is. Its very difficult to get huge power out of Subarus 2 litre david. The engine hasnt got the internals for big power built in as standard while getting bhp out of a cosworth is a good deal easier. You wont ever hear of an Impreza with 500bhp.Also the number 3 cylinder has a tendancy to run 90 to 100 degrees c hotter then the rest and this is where trouble begins when you try to extract more than 300bhp.

I thought the top speed for a uk/Irish spec Impreza was 147MPH. Most speedos read out by 5-10% so an indicated 160MPH would be 144-152 MPH. At an indicated 160MPH it must of been on the rev limiter in 5th. If anyone ever goes to the rolling road please let us know what the top speed in 5th is. I know cookstown is miles away but I thought I would let people know as if you are tuning/or having problems(running lean) a rolling road can be useful if the operators know what they are at.

Lego, I can honestly believe that 145mph is very attainable from an Irish spec legacy turbo. some time ago I nearly bought an imported Legacy GT and I looked these up on the web and most sites reported speeds in excess of 170mph. given that they are basically an impreza engine with two turbos working sequentially and with 280bhp it sounds feasable.

ye but mine only has one turbo the twins were born in 1994. so i have a bit less bhp than 280 more like 190-210 i'm not sure.
naf.. limerick-shannon runway
dirver doing 140mph gets pulled in by a garda leans in the window and askes the youge driver and i qoute

Hi Kevin and others.
I'm Paul McLoughlin from Mac's Power Motorsport. All we do is upgrade Impreza's.
Now there's my plug in.
I only wander onto scoobynet every now and then. I do most of my posting on IWOC.
With the help of Philip we've been running the Irish Subaru Driver's Club for the last 2 years. Were now up to nearly 50 members and have discounts from most main dealers on servicing and from other companies on tyres and parts. We organise a number of days out during the year including track days at Mondello Park and there's a Treasure Hunt and a rolling road shootout coming up soon.
For more details e-mail me at paulmcloughlin@eircom.net or phone on 086 8797512.
If any of you have any queries or problems Scooby related, please feel free to call me or e-mail me anytime, or if you post to the list under Ireland I'll post a reply.
Regards,
Paul.

lego i was just reading there that your legacy is sinlge turbo, i've a jap b4 twin turbo that's slightly over 300bhp and has the restricter removed with a kph to mph chip and i clocked 158 mph on the clock and used the sat nav to get the true speed while doing so, and there was still some left but i ran out of straight road.
