the Prosport ones aren't expensive in the UK anyway, there's no reason for them to be fake

good gauges for the money though

just installed some Defi's in my Classic with matching green illumination

they did the same series of gauges with a white face, which would match even better, but they are rare as rocking horse poo and fetch top dollar

happy with the black faced ones though

the ones i ordered off ebay have really bad illumination, especially during the day. they are being returned and the super white/green are being ordered. according to the seller they are a new design and are dimmer than the previous gauges in the range. good price but you get what you pay for.

Hey all. I'm on the verge of getting some gauges for my car.

I'm looking at the Prosport ones but have been told that the electrical ones ain't so good.

Guess the mechanical ones are better and easier to fit. Am I right?

If it's for a classic, full set of Defis on e-bay last night, boost, oil temp, oil press and control box. Search Defi.

If you can't stretch to Defis, the better Prosport ones are stepper-motor or electronic.

I would love to be able to afford the Defi's and understand that they are probably the best. Also if you are getting guages you want them to initially warn you of upcoming problems which the DEFI's can do.

But I can't simply afford them. So is the stepper- motor or electronic know good?

I'm just on verge of ordering them, once I can get hold of the A-Pillar mounts.

Stepper-motor gauges as a general design are usually highly thought of for accuracy and durability, and there's no shortage of people on here and other scoob forums who seem very happy with the Prosport ones. I've got no idea about their electronic ones though - on paper they should be very accurate, but I don't have them myself. Your best bet might be to ask or look around on rs25.com or nasioc and see if anyone's got them on there.

not put the sensors in yet. trying to find where the 3rd cylinder bung is at the moment for the temp one , and i am waiting for the extra adaptor to come so i can still use the oil sensor that is already on the car for the pressure sender.. didnt realise that bit didnt come with the kits.

The 3rd cylinder bung is where you might expect it to be: on top of No3 cylinder, LOL
Look down in front of the turbo and intercooler. On top of the engine, driver's side, rearmost cylinder, is a flat bung about 25mm across with an 8mm hex hole in it. That's it.

And why do you want the old oil pressure sender to stay? It's set at around 14psi, or 1bar, if it gets that low, the engine is fekked anyway. Ditch it and go with the gauge.

mine is a non-turbo but i assume it is in the same place???? o6 hawkeye by the way.
wasnt sure if the oil light would come on if i took the sensor out so i opted for the safer option and brought the connector anyway. if i dont need it when i get them finished then i can always send it back.
