Prosport Gauges - Changing Colour
I've got some prosport gauges (amber/white ones) and they currently light up amber, but when you switch them on, they're white... is there any way to make them permanently white?

Yes they can be made to light up white with lights on or off.
When I had mine fitted the guy did it in such a way taking power from the cigarette lighter, so I could run in either colour.
But if you brought the car with them already fitted, its hard to know where they may have installed that wire, it may have even gone to the ignition???
Are your gauges in a pod ontop of the dash board?, if so, that wire may be going to the cigarette lighter due to being a short length.

Nope, there were origianlly on the drivers pillar in a gauge pod. Bought the car with them on. So how would you change the colour? I thought it would be like a button to press to change the colour

On a newage using the clock plug in the centre dash it is. You might have to pop the pod off and adjust which positive circuit is giving it power for the illumination you want. The guages are daisy chained together so pull out the bottom one and see how its wired up from what circuit.

The gauges don't use them all, each one gets a sender which is fixed, but the power one i think from memory is made up of 4 wires, permanent positive, negative and power for the lighting illumination. So depending on the colour you wanted with lights on/off or just permanent at one colour you wouldn't use both of the power for lighting wires (i.e for one colour you'd just give power from circuit X all the time).

I'll have a play on and see what I can come up with, they were on the car when I bought it so havent got any fitting instructions... so basically if I want the white colour (which is the colour they light up before then turning red... or amber) I just have to unplug one of the wires out of the sockets on the back of each gauge?

All 3 gauges are powered from the 1st one via a daisy chain, so you'd just need to adjust the 1st gauge. It *might* mean snipping one of the control wires or switching them around from the power circuit that they're piggybacking on somewhere under your dashboard.

All depends how nice the installation was. If they used a choc bloc or shielded bullet connectors then no sweat, but if its soldered and taped up and you're not sure what you're looking at.....

I'll have to have a good look mate, thanks very much for your replies... if its not a straight forward job, i'm getting another couple of the gauges soon (for air/fuel and oil temp) so will probs just rip them all out and start again with them to make sure thery're done properly, as looking behind there now its just a proper mish mash of wires (drivers footwell)

I have my prosport gauges wired up with the dash light dimmers switch so I can switch then from red to a whiteish/blue colour. I must state however this was done by the previous owner
