Default What's This Button?

Can someone help a total n00b, plz... Just got this Impreza in from Japan (which is why I can't refer to the manual), and I can't figure out what on Earth this button's for. As far as I can tell, it ain't the overdrive, and I don't see anything happening when I press it. In fact, it doesn't seem to have a "pressed"/"unpressed" setting.

Thanks in advance.

if it is pressed you can move the gear selector when the car is not running, or without pressing the brake pedal..

aye ,that button bypasses the need for key and footbrake, so you can move lever without either.
have you got manual/auto button?
do you know how it works?
if not here goes,
when in auto obvious select gear and auto box will change up/down accordingly, when in manual box will only stay in gear you select (other than drive) ie when you put it into 3rd it will stay in 3rd wont change down and will start off in 3rd, wheras if in auto would go through 1 and 2 first.

Don't think so. Where would it be, so I can look again.
