white dial kits
Fitted some to an MY93, they do look the nuts, however they are (as has been said already) not the straightforward job you would expect. Speedo and revcounter are fine but fuel and temp are a bugger!

do a search i usually comment on these
they are worth it IMO but you can have issues with any of the gauges. The fuel & temp uns r tricky to get off but you dont need to take the needle off at least, my advise for these is to get a small pair of scissors & nail clippers to trim away at the OE black dials without putting too much stress on dial & thus breaking
.
the speedo & rev dial was where i had problems in that i broke 2 rev dials on the way to whitehood
the 2 spoon technique of prising off needles may work for many but it isn't risk free & there's no guarantee you wont pop [read break] the spindle when applying pressure
they are very week & once out they r feked once broken once thou you have a spare set of needles so spend £40 with a scooby breaker get a spare dial then melt off the needle with soldering iron & replace with white dials & old needle1
No stress on spindle this way & thus no breakage if you can get spare needles my advice is to GET them & melt off the old ones risk free
Dont be put off by my highlighting where it can go wrong as it is still worthwhile often goes hitch free but be prepared.....

but generally it is an easy job i aint technically gifted like
but getting to them & doing the theory is easy but for stumbling blocks see above
lol
There is a site with sum nice pikkies & how to do the bits i'll try & dig out later (although i cant remember if it still worked last time i wanted it
)

what are the best white dials? My boost guages are white faced with blue backlighting so was going to do the blue light conversion off here and fit white dials to match..... just concerned about this whole breaking them thing
wouldn't worry too much just be wairy the majority of people seem to avoid any issues using the 2 spoon technique etc but equally they can break so if you can get some spare needles (presumably not too difficult but i never needed to have to as i had plenty of spares by then
) & melt 'em off so no risk att with rev & speedo & as long as yer careful & take yer time with suitable tools (nail clippers & slim but strong scissors worked perfectly for me) the fuel & temp should be pucker also.
IMO it does improve the hideous interior no end & even thou i needed to spend £80 or so more kuz i broke 2 rev dials i would still do the same again & it's still one of the cheaper mods even with that extar cost

Huxley m8, how do i go about removing the coloured film on the back of lockwoods though as this made the blue bulbs in my last car look green. Need them the colour of the ones in that pre 97 pic but with white dials if possible.
theyre the guages im trying to match

Ta m8

I used a dremal drill thing with the grinding bit that looks like a dentists dril and carefuly removed the green layer on the white dial kit so it was allmost clear now the dials are the shade of Blue I wanted

But go careful
Where can you get those guages from ?

huxley the first pic is reversed indiglo, the second pic is ? something you made yourself ?
reverse indiglo is quite easy to source, a group buy from someone like speedshack.com would be a good idea, love the blue bulbs btw. cheers nomad

Errrrrrr no the first pic is achived by fitting bule bulbs in the clocks, as I supplied the bulbs to him
as for the second pic i'm crap at photography
I emailed a company in the states in referance to having some classic dial kits made in reverse indiglo 25 sets and guess what as per normal the to$$ers over there don't even reply thats about the 4th company that I have emailed and no replys as normal

huxley- you really need or phone or fax them........that is the only way to get anything done quick....as for one off dials.....it aint cheap.....by the time you pay for postage and tax....for any semi decent discounts you need to order about 100+ dial kits
doing a group buy on the above guages now, lokng like 35 quidd per guage
