Default HVAC Bulbs....

Photobucket appears to have killed all the threads on this looking to convert my HVAC controls to blue on a 2003 STI.

Can anyone shed some light of what I need to replace these with please....?

There's 4 of them mounted across the PCB (not interested in swapping out the LED's, just the 4 bulbs)

Cheers

You replace the actual bulb rather than its holder, using something like this

or change to an LED equivalent.

I am back...

I had to tear the original bulb out of the holder & it was just wired in to the base of the holder:

I am guessing this is just a case of replacing these with blue LED’s & wrapping the wires round the holders as the T5’s I have are the wedge type & no way to push fit them in?

Thanks

*Edit: And if just swapping with a standard LED are they all universal or does it need to be a specific wattage or something

I got as far as putting a bulb similar to (possibly the same) as what Dom suggests, in the standard holder which did fcukall.

I have T5 LED’s in my clocks already & there would be no straight forward solution to install these. However thinking about it, it would make sense to use the same blue LED’s that are in my clocks & ignition barrel ring

I might have to get creative fixing some LED’s to the original bulb mounts with jumper wires

Right, if you're squeamish look away now

On the left is the stock bulb holder which is 6mm in diameter (the shaft ), on the right is a T5 bulb mount as used in the clocks which is 8mm...

Hole drilled out to 8mm & a bit of manipulation with a needle file...

Fits the T5 holder straight into the HVAC PCB...

Back in the whip

Clock blue doesn't look that far off in real light (gauge pod with Prosport EVO's going here at some point)...

Interior light on which does nothing to highlight how the clock blue isn't that far off
