Royal Steering Wheels
big shout out to Jack at Royal Steering Wheels (http://royalsteeringwheels.com/!
Superb quality, good comms, and delivery on time as promised all at a very reasonably price too.
They do both replacement and exchange. I went for exchange on my hawk sti wheel, you pay a deposit, but it means the car is only off the road for the 20 mins or so it takes to swap out the wheels.
The previous owner of my car smoked and now it's so nice not to have my hands stinking of smoke after driving it!
For anyone thinking of replacing the steering wheel you'll need:
- 10mm spanner to disconnet the battery
- T27 (I think) torx wrench
- Rachet spanner + torque wrench (to re-tighten the main steering wheel nut)
- small flat blade screwdriver to release the drivers airbag harness connetor
- Philips cross head to remove the screws that hold the rear plastic steering wheel cowl to the wheel
With everything to hand it's not even a 20 mins job!

Jack @ Royal retrimmed by E46 M3 wheel..It looked amazing when it refitted it..It took years off the interior and made the car feel really nice to drive..A bit like having a new car..Retrimming the contact surfaces is a really nice upgrade

Another thumbs up for Royal Steering wheels
I had mine retrimmed in black alcantara with black stitching, very good quality and an easy company to use.
As said above it’s an easy swap too.

It places the gear **** closer to the steering wheel and confines the shifting to approx. 55mm x 55mm square.

I used to live near Royal and popped my my97 plastic wheel up to him a couple of years ago. Great job with mix of perforated and plain leather. I can’t imagine the wheel how it used to be now. Or why I went so long with the plastic!
