Rite guys I have a my98 and I'm wondering if they is a official cup holder for it . I have the one by the seat belt , seen on early ones they have them in the dash , but I have facelift dash broad .

Can anybody shed any light on it please

 

No cupholder fitted on the dash.

But, where the blanking plate is, on the dash, you can fit one from the JDM cars, which DID get one.

So far, mine had had, (all from JDM cars), Folding mirrors, STi6 interior inc all seats, STi 6 spoiler, WR1 steering wheel.

The UK car was an expensive disgrace* I know, 'cos I've had mine since new.

* Underpowered, poor brakes, poor suspension, poor interior, under-specced, yet sold for OVER 30% more than the JDM cars

 

My MY98 (face lifted dash with passenger airbag) has a cup holder next to the heater rear window switch in the dash. It just pulls out. There was also a weird plastic folding arrangement in the centre console/armrest box but I broke that while cleaning it.

I don't think pre-MY98 cars have at least the first one, but you can get various DIN pocket ones from eBay with pop out cup holders, this sort of thing:

Strange, my car is 98, bought in September 98, facelifted dash etc, but NO cupholder in the dash, only the folding one in the armrest.
