Default More Than + Mods? (+ suggestions for 22yo with mods on Impreza GL)

Hi All

Really struggling to get keen prices out of the specialists this year, usually they beat confused.com's best 'as if unmodded' quote but this year I'm getting sub £400 from Confused and ~£700 is the best when declaring mods to specialists (A-Plan best, waiting to hear from Keith Michaels).

I wouldn't call it extensively modified but there are quite a few little things which seems to put people off. Car is MY95 Impreza 1.6GL with exhaust, wheels, rear ARB, 2 pots, turbo front bumper + P1 lights, WRX seats, panel air filter, small spoiler (wagon - top of rear window). I'm 22 with 3 years NCB, no claims or points, good postcode, IAM.

More Than give me the best quote thru Confused and their website states:

"We will not be able to provide cover if your car has been modified to increase the top speed or acceleration."

Now if I replace my panel filter with a standard one I think the above statement applies to me. Anyone have any experience of using More Than with mods?

Swiftcover also give a decent quote and will ignore exhaust and alloys but I'd have to go back to standard seats and filters and not sure about brakes and the bumper.

Will give A-Plan a ring to see if they can improve their quote as they said they would try to match anything better. Bit annoying when companies won't give their best price in the first instance, but still.

Any other suggestions welcome.

Cheers.

More Than's call centre confirmed any mod is fine provided top speed or acceleration aren't affected. When I asked if the exhaust counts though, they just put it back on me and asked if it affects performance. It's a custom-made (not Powerflow, but that kind of thing) stainless system so I doubt it makes any real difference but there might be some I suppose. I guess I could be on dodgy ground...

Thanks for the advice but it's too late Had it since 17 so it was my only option if I wanted an Impreza (as I did) really. It still does exactly what I need of it and I like the way it looks (going off the image though). Going to be out of the country most of the time for the next year or two so two so it's not worth upgrading power for the time being.

Well after a lot of wasted time speaking to More Than I suggest avoiding these morons at all costs. I've now had so many different answers about whether my modifications are acceptable or not that I've no confidence in them and am taking my business elsewhere. Even though it'll cost me substantially more, at least I can be confident I'm actually covered. How bloody annoying that when you try your hardest to play by the rules re mods yet you still get messed around no end and ripped off. Grrrrrrrrrr!
