Default Problem with interference after speaker upgrade

Hi,

Was wanting some advice. Has any of you after replacing the front speakers with 6.5'' components and tweeters had any problems with interefence from the engine. When I tested all the speakers and that before stickin all the door card together etc I tested them with the engine off and just ignition on. Once I checked everything was working properly I put everything back together. That was all fine till I started engine to drive away from my mates an the cd started playin and there is this god awful interference comin out of what I think is the tweeters, it's really hi pitched and rises an lowers with the rev of the engine even when I have volume completely off it's still there as loud. Have to turn headunit completely off to get it to stop!?

Couldn't belive it as we'd been at it hours fittin all different things and then go to drive away thinkin jobs a good one and that racket starts an it's too late to pull everything apart again.

Anyone know what the hell I've done so I have a bit of a clue what to look for when I pull it apart?

Cheers

Duane

Are the speakers running through an external amp? Or directly off the HU?

Hi, running off an external amp. The amp was already in car when I bought it but speakers were awful before so I changed them but never changed any of wireing etc.

I know exactly what this is as suffered from it for aaaages before eventually finding out the problem.

Simple answer, hard to find though i'm afraid.

It's a bad earth causing alternator feedback. you can buy supressors, but they are rubbish, don't do it.

If all you've changed is the speakers in the doors, i recommend disconnecting the speakers, then re-wiring one of them at a time to isolate the problem. If that doesn't work, test each wire going back to the amp etc. until you find the offender!

Good luck mate.
