Default sound proofing question?

Do i remove the plastic sheet thats behind the door panel or just stick it over the sheet?

cheers for any help!

Remove the plastic sheet and fix it to the metal.

If I rememeber correctly I think Nick (chiark) may have even thrown his plastic sheet away but I could be wrong.

It's a bit messy to peel away and try not to let it stick back onto itself (er like I did)

Wink

I did mine this weekend. Throw the plastic rubbish away, stick some of the sound deadening to the inside of the outer skin and some to the inside of the inner skin. You will notice the difference when closing the doors and when on the motorway!

No need to cut massive sheets, strips will do in the right places.

I covered round the speakets in a triangular design, several strips on the inside skin and larger sections for the outside skin. The more you cover the better sound deadening you will get. Restrain is the key though. Too much sound deadening will be wasted and not enough will mean that you are wasting your time.

I will try to take some photos so you can see what I have done if you are interested. PM me with you email address and I will mail you with them.

Here you go guys!

Notice that there actually isn't that much sound deadening but it actually make loads of difference! the majority is on the outer skin but the little bits round the speaker and the inner skin make all the difference! The sound deadening is the silver reflective stuff but I am sure you all know that!

Have a fun weekend!

I cut mine into 3 inch squares, then stuck them to the outerskins. Then again to bits of the inner, as well as where the speaker would fit. Also did the same to there rear wings and the boot lid.

Just have to cover the speaker pods up front now, and get some bigger speakers for the rear shelf.

I'll take photo's of the boot lid tomorrow.

I used these people:

http://noisekiller.co.uk/home.htm

Mention scoobynet and they should give you a discount. It was about £50 for a 2m x 1m sheet and was probably the best £50 I ever invested! When I had no idea about sound deadening they talked me all through it and explained the options. Can't remeber the name of the bloke but send them an email and they will give you a call back.
