5.25 are the front speakers. Rears are smaller. 4" I think. Personally though, I wouldn't bother. Rear speakers do nothing for the listening experience other than increase the volume. You'd be better off disconnecting them and spending the money on better front speakers/HU/amp etc.

All ready have a Sony head unit and am also looking at alpine front speakers and an under seat sub/amp. Just figured I might as well do the lot.

Having rear speakers ruins the soundstage. You want the audio to appear to come from front & centre of your seating position, so as to get the best sound imaging. Putting speakers behind you pulls the audio back towards you (and down given the Scooby rear speaker locations) which is undesirable. You can get away with having a sub behind you (or anywhere really) as frequncies below 100hz are non-directional. Put the money towards the front speaker installation.

Should I go for component or coaxial for the front? Looking at these or the equivalent coaxial ones at the moment

I have a full Hertz speaker upgrade for a Hawkeye if you're interested? Front and rear direct swap components, tweaters, with spacers etc. Was all fitted in my hawk and was a MASSIVE improvement but removed it before I sold the car a few years back.

I have hertz components driven by an alpine amp at the front of mine and is a massive improvement dont expect a lot of bass from them you will need a small sub for that

I'd look to use a separate amplifier to drive 17cm speakers.

With the HU, set the high pass to 125hz as any lower and the doors will vibrate even if properly soundproofed and installed

You can get 6-1/2” in the front. Have a look in the for sale section and get a set of the spacers
