What has been your experience with either, and what factors (like timing, audience, item type, trust) tipped the scale for you?

I recently tried listing a vintage camera on an auction site. It attracted more bids than I expected, probably because the deadline created urgency. But the final price ended up lower than my target. For casual sellers like me, fixed‐price might be safer: you set the minimum and avoid the “will it go up?” gamble.

One time I used the platform on which I’d read a review for iggm as a marketplace for gaming items. The listing process was straightforward, but I noticed that items listed like an auction brought in many watchers but fewer actual bids. Eventually I switched to a fixed-price sale and removed the bidding format altogether, the item sold within 48 hours. For casual sellers the predictability of a fixed-price listing often wins out in practice.
