08 STI Hatch Cobra sport exhaust GB.
Hi,
I’ve been speaking to Cobra sport, the guys who make the exhausts for Subaru UK themselves (IM Group) and they have offered a great Group buy deal for the STI 08.
Their system has been tested at Scooby Clinics calibrated rolling road. The car made only 286 BHP on the first run with its standard exhaust (It should have made 296 BHP). Starting with an under powered car it still made 6 BHP gain from standard O/E exhaust to 3" bore cat back system, and 4 BHP gain from the 2.5" cat-back system.
Offer:
Cat back system in 3" bore with resonated centre section for £450.00 (RRP £585.00).
Options -:
You can have it without the centre box for £25 less.
You can have it with a Sports Cat for an additional £261.00 (RRP £290.00).
You can have it with a Second De-cat pipe for an additional £73.80 (RRP £82.00).
You can have a choice of any of the tailpipes from their selection.
All prices include vat but + delivery.
We need at least 3 people to commit to get this deal under way.

If both of you are up for this please add your names to the list and we can get this moving. If you want any technical info let me know and I'll sort out it out.
Thanks,
Paul.

Apostle,
Sorry about this but it looks like I've messed up. I posted on the hatch forum via my mobile and then cut and pasted it on here. The offer is for the system at £450 but I should have put the Sports cat and the De-cat pipe in the options list as Pete from Cobra said he'd offer a 10% discount on these items only for those who bought the system.
Hope this doesn't cause you any problems.
Sorry,
Paul.

Sent a PM to Pete but found out when I called that he's away.
Answer: If you order the cat back system it has a 2.5" reducer at the front of the system which allows it to bolt to the standard 2nd cat or the de-cat pipe.
I don't know your plans but if you're looking for big power in the future I'd consider the sports cat option, which will give you a full 3" system from the turbo back for £187.20 more. If you go with the cat back system & de-cat pipe and then want a sports cat at a later date the de-cat will be redundant and you'll still have the reducer in the system.
Thanks,
Paul.

Whats the in cabin sound like ? Any motorway droning ?
Also did they wrap your downpipe before fitting ?
And.. how much to fit too PLEASE ?

PPS - on the video above the exhaust tips stick out way too far for me. Are yours similar ? I guess the standard PPP exhaust tips sit back 1-2" further in - I imagine they can fix this / sort this for me if I came to them for fitment of a full system ?

Noise is increased, I'd say go for the centre box. Once you're cruising the noise settles down but it's hard to say how you'd find it as everybody is different
Didn't get chance to wrap but when I find a turbo blanket I'll wrap the downpipe.
I took it to a local garage, as it arrived the day before the mapping, and threw it at them. They had problems with the sensor being stuck in the downpipe but they got it out after a lot of work and charged £90. They said a new universal sensor was £80 and Subaru wanted over £200 but be warned Bob said that a universal one will fry your ECU.
Thanks,
Paul.

It all depends on getting the third person. I've taken mine at full price to be refunded if we reach the required number, just because I needed it for my remap. I'm sure Pete will do the same for you if you require it early and are happy to take the risk that we don't get a third person.
I ordered mine on a Monday afternoon and it was delivered on the Thursday.
Thanks,
Paul.

For those of you wishing to take part but can't confirm at the minute, I would be grateful if you could add your name(s) to the list as a possible. If you could also give some idea when you'll know either way, just so people have an idea of when it could go ahead.
Thanks,
Paul.
