Are you looking at an atmospheric valve or a recirculating one? If it's recirculating your best bet is to stick with the stock subaru valve, unless you're running a high boost setup (over 22psi and they start to leak iirc)

If you're going for a VTA valve are you aware that they make your engine run rich between gear shifts, making your car temporarily slower to respond immediately after choosing your next gear?

i thought it only runs rich for a fraction of a second when the throttle is closed. This should not affect the air fuel ratios through the revs.

You are dumping all the metered air out of the system, so when that air that has been metered is not there what do you think happens personally I would be looking at a decent recirc one if you want a little noise on closed throttle, vta ones can cause running issues but people still use them and have done for years, you could be a lucky one or you could be an unlucky one, the choice is in your hands and its your decision, just remember if it does start to play up what to check first

Same situation for me, had a bailey VTA on it, the first modification I did was to remove it and put a standard recirc back on, idles much better and has quicker response after shifting. Also it stopped my car sounding like a bus.
