You will need 2 lengths of cable long enough to go from the rear of the car to the front.

One would be around 50A cable and this goes from the live on the battery to the fuse box under the bonnet, and the other is for the starter motor and i think is upwards of 200A cable, not sure on the actually amp cable use, this is based on thickness of the cable. This would run from the starter motor to the positive of the battery too.

You would then need another 2 lengths of cable for the earth, one earth which is the thickest, again i think of 200A upwards cable, this is bolted to the engine which goes to the negative on the battery, and the other earth which the cable is around 50A again is bolted to the chassis.

Alternatively you could make a new earth bolted directly to the chassis as the back but i'm not sure how suitable this will be.

On the ends of the cable you would then need some ring end terminals to connect them up.

As for where you can get the cable and ring ends i'm not to sure, i found one site called AES.

SO in total you are looking at 4 lengths of cable, 2 of these around 50A and the other 2 around 200+ upwards.

Then find a route for it all.

Sorry no guide though lol.

Thanks

can't see why you would need to run extra cables.. Just look at the BMW setups.

Earth the battery to the chassis run a cable from the battery to the engine bay and terminate it into a box they connect everything to that box like you would if you had the battery in the engine bay.

Also connect another box and earth that back to the chassis.

It's sort of complicated but then again not complicated, more just a pain in the butt.

If you look under the bonnet, you will see a cable from the + of the battery to the fuse box, this cable is black and is about 6mm in diameter and only about 1 foot in length, so based on the 6mm i would say that's about a 50/60A cable, guess you could check what the biggest amp fuse/relay is in the fuse box, that would give a indication.

Again from the + of the battery you will see a thicker cable about 12cm thick, if you follow this back it will go directly to the starter motor and this is about 2 foot in length. 12cm, 200+ upwards?

From the - of the battery you will see the thin cable bolt to chassis very close to the battery, this again is only about a foot in length.

And again from the - of the battery, you will see a thick cable also that if follwed back is bolted to the engine jsut near the starter motor (Under the inter cooler.).

These cables all have ring end terminals on.

So yeah you just need to get some longer length cable at the right length and route it all.

I'm currently doing this myself, but not to the boot, but to where the passenger seat use to be for my track car.

I'm going to be earthing the battery to the chassis though right by the battery. hopefully this will work as a suitable earth for the starter, my only worry is the engine is insulated apart from the chassis by the rubber engine mounts, so hopefully the earth will be strong enough.

Thanks

Springs way would also work, but wouldn't be as neat in my opinion, would look a bit DIY, but is a simpler option.

Earth it to the chassis at the back and run a thick + cable to where the battery use to be and terminate it at a junction box, have you 2 previous + cable connect to the junction box.

Thanks
