Default New Radiator needed!

My 95 WRX STI has a leak in the radiator so a new one is needed.
Any advice on an upgraded one and where I could get it from?
And are they really worth spending the extra cash rather than a standard part?

Thanks!

I bought one from Budget Radiators on eBay - about £42. No problems and very good service.

I put on a Japspeed alloy racing one and it is brilliant.

Car now runs 6 degrees cooler and it looks the nuts.

Again with the 6 degrees cooler?
How do you KNOW?

And how can it, when the car's thermostat sets the engine temperature, not the rad?

OP: Use a standard on, bought locally or off ebay. It's what I'm running on a 2.5 litre 400+ conversion, plenty good enough.

I looked at the water temp reading my power fc contoller, before alloy rad it was 92 degrees and now runs at 86 degrees. Also on my temp gauge on the dash used to sit at pretty much exactly half way and now sits just below half way.

Im no expert but the power fc is connected directly into the wiring of all the sensors etc so its not making these numbers up. Also my mechanic said that they do run cooler with the alloy rads, mostly because the core is a bit thicker.

You may not believe me and to be honest I don't really care.

I just saw this thread. Rather than starting a new one, I wanted to ask this question please.

My classic MY99 runs perfectly, but on two occassions now I have seen a damp patch under the drivers side of the front bumper. It's not massive, and looking in the engine bay it seems to be weeping from the bottom corner of the rad - just near the drain screw.

Is this a common fault?

Cheers.

Jason.

Mine did this mate, I removed the drain screw and re-fitted with a small rubber washer, job done
