Hi,
I have a problem on my 2002 UK Impreza 2.0GX wagon.

It has a SIGMA fob which is separate from the key. (The key has 2 buttons which I presume are disconnected/unused?)
The SIGMA fob is the one with the round battery compartment and black screw-off battery cap.

Today, I locked the car as usual using the SIGMA fob blipper.
About an hour later, the blipper would not unlock the car.
The small red LED on the SIGMA fob didn't appear to be coming on (I couldn't see it in the bright sunshine) so I replaced the batteries in the fob. (with 2x new CR2025 cells)
(I've just checked now it's getting dark, and the LED on the fob is now definitely working)

The car will still not unlock/disarm using the SIGMA fob.

So, I unlocked the car using the key, and tried putting it in the ignition, and pressing the blipper with the ignition on, but that didn't work either.
The indicators flashed rapidly for about 30 secs then stopped.
Each time I tried to turn the ignition on, or open the doors, the indicators flashed rapidly for about 30 secs.

I looked at the SUBARU owners manual, but it was useless - apart from finding a sticker with my PIN on it!
I then tried using the PIN on the keypad, but the keypad LED just flashed rapidly and I don't want to lock out the system (I don't know if the previous owner(s) had changed the PIN.)

Can anyone help please? or do I have to contact my local SUBARU dealer or auto-electrician?

(I've just checked the car again, and without doing anything other than unlocking the car with the key, the LED on the keypad is flickering rapidly?)

If your sure you have the correct pin , enter the pin making sure You hit the numbers spot on

Push the car 20/50 yrds down the road to start with. They can suffer frim interference.

If you search sigma sam. there are many old posts about the sigma system. Sam no longer posts but im sure i remember one about reseting the pin

Thanks toneh, I found the PIN number on a sticker attached to the owners manual, but I cant be sure that the previous owner hasn't changed it from that.

The keypad LED is just flickering rapidly, so I don't think the keypad will accept a PIN anyway. (I did try it ONCE but no joy)

The car is right outside my house, in a small village, away from phone masts etc. Exactly where I always park. Never had any problem there before.
I have read many of Sams old posts, very informative, but nothing that's helped me solve issue so far.

Thanks Tony, I've tried what you suggest, but the keypad LED is just flickering constantly, and it doesn't seem to accept any keypress at all?
Am I now Locked Out?

You could be locked out , but don't worry it's not permenant
I can't remember off hand , it could be 30 min
When you put the code in make sure it's precise and it's blinked each time you enter each digit
Have another go in a while
Failing that it could be the alarm module gone

Hmm Not good!
I had left it for a couple of hours before trying your suggestion, but keypad LED was still flickering... I'll ask my local SUBARU dealer in the morning.

Pad could be a constant pressed button on the pad
Other than the pin reset I can't help I'm afraid

You do have to make sure each number is accepted and it is a little tricky to input

OK, local subaru dealer suggested that the car battery may be flat (it isn't) or that the alarm ECU may be faulty. (The car is immobile at my house, so they didn't actually see it)

So, where is the best place to source a SIGMA M30 alarm unit?

Right, I ended up having to replace the main ECU AND keypad!
After fitting the new ECU (supplied by local Subaru garage) the system was still not working properly so the next thing to do was replace the keypad.
Sourced a new one from Ebay, cheaper than local dealer price, and as soon as it was fitted the problems disappeared!

Hello mate. I've got to change my keypad for my sigma alarm but I don't no where it plugs in. Could you help? Is there a guide?

Hi Alex,
The keypad comes with a long cable attached.
That cable has a small (black) connector on the end.
The connector plugs directly into the main alarm module (replacing the old keypad connection).
Locate your alarm module (mine was mounted high up under the passenger side dashboard) and find the one connector which matches the same size/shape as your new keypad connector. (From memory all of the other connections were different from that one)

Remove the old keypad connection, and replace it with your new one. (after threading the connecting wire up behind the dash to keep it hidden!)

I did take photos at the time I did mine, but unfortunately lost them when my old laptop crashed.

Your local Subaru Dealer should be able to help if you run into problems.
Mine were very friendly & helpful.

I have since sold my scooby, so I can't even pop out and take more pics for you!
