number 1 on giving it some right foot it boosts to 1 bar but then drops and holds to 0.5 bar is this a broken actuator ?

number 2 from cold it has a small miss fire low down when warm this misfire clears is that plugs or coils or something else cheers

Have you pulled any codes from your car? Gotta start there really or people are just guessing!

Sounds like a split in a boost pipe.

Coil pack is probably your prime suspect, I would also check the HT leads, its an 18 year old car and will need parts replacing.

When was the car last serviced also? check when the belt was done, though I always get the belt changed when buying a new car anyway

I'd get the boost leak found an sorted mate

You'll be getting bad turbo overspin if it's dropping to 0.5bar.

The turbo does X amount of RPM to produce 1bar with no leaks. If the engine knows no different, an the pressure in the inlet manifold is only seeing 0.5, that turbo of yours will be glowing transparent HOT trying to achieve natural boost.

Just a though

thanks i cant pull any codes as its a 1994 and the management light is not on but dose work

would it be a boost leak even though it drops to 0.5 it holds and dose not drop any more would it defantly not be the actuator

its had a cambelt and waterpump 2 weeks ago i will take the cover off to check this

the last oil service was 9 months ago and sparkplugs 7 years !!!! i think a full service is needed

Why can't you pull any codes? Use the diag plugs under the dash,
If you haven't changed plugs in 7 years there's a start for your misfire,
I would be more inclined to check the vac pipes for your boost issue, particularly the one for the compressor bleed screw, have changed a few of these in the past with a small split.

I'm pretty sure you have the ability to check fault codes yourself you are just unaware. Use the search function all the info is there. You can also put it into test to check the boost control solenoid for you problem, and cleaning procedure if required.

I did this the other day on my 94 wrx ! Under the plastic below the steering wheel there are 4 plugs , 2 black 2 green ! Join the 2 black and turn ignition to on ( do not start ) then watch your engine check light as this will flash !!!!!

A steady flash = no problems logged ( I think )
Otherwise it will flash at different time intervals
A long flash = 10
Which will be followed by shorter flashes = 1

So 2 long flash followed by 3 short flashes = 23 which I think is faulty maf ???

Try it then google the appropriate fault code number it's sure to come up on google
