impreza 04 wrx cambelt renewal timeline
hey guys
i was supposed to be going to fetch this at the weekend
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3424418.htm
the deal was he gets the cambelt and water pump done this week but he has text me saying he cant get it done as his prefered garage is fully booked so it will be next week but i am too busy for the next 3 weeks so i want to get it this weekend
the cambelt was done @ 51k in december 2007 then a new sti 2.5 bottom end was fitted in oct 2008 but (strangely) a new cambelt was not fitted at the time og the engine-all this has been confirmed by powerstation
the car is now on 93k so that cambelt has done 42k and is not far off being 5 years old,i really didnt fancy driving 135 miles back worrying about the cambelt so whats the renewal of these? every 4 years/40k every 5 years/60k
really stuck as to what to do now
it might have had one between then and now but there is no receipt and i would have thought a well known tuner like powerstation would have put a new belt on

belts will last a lot longer than the recommended change details.
subaru and all other manufacturers will over compensate.
A friends renault clio belt snapped when it was 50,000 over due!
I wouldn't worry yourself thats for sure, get some money off the asking price and you ll be fine!
