Impreza sti jdm

Hi all,I have a friend which has an 03 Impreza sti jdm model which is stock apart with some small mods like 3 inch milltek exhaust full decat,subaru 3 port boost selenoid,cosworth air filter,cosworth thermal intake manifold gaskets,ngk 7b plugs and a walbro 255 fuel pump,He's thinking of going the Hdi Fmic route but he's unsure of it as people(including myself) tell him that it may attribute to more lag due to that the vf37 is a small turbo.Our temperature's have a yearly average of 23.2 degrees(about 12 degrees in winter and about 30 degrees+ in summer).What do you think?

Does anyone has an answer to this question before he goes and just buy the intercooler?i told him to stay on the tmic,though i know that the stock tmic when giving it 2 'hard' runs it will not be as effective as the first.
