I think based on the fact that the MAF is a real weakness on these cars and you are looking to do lots of upgrades, I would pick an Alcatek or new Simtek to fit to run mafless.

Both support features like launch control and anti-lag as well for a bit of fun, plus they are both live mappable, which means every part of the map can be tailored to suite the car in a reasonable time.

Hope this helps,

Graham

thanks graham for responce!

i think im settled after reading your advice, only worry i have is the turbo TD04 will run out of puff very quick with the front mount intercooler???, will boost still be present? i take it the map will make certain parameter adjustments to compensate for larger core size?. i do plan on a td05 unit or vf series later. thanks again.

Got a gc8 vr5 jdm ej207 rebuilt with a vr7 shortblock aftr a big end bearing failure

Sard fuel regulator
720cc inj
VF35
HKS 3" TBE
FMIC
Blitz Bov
Blitz boost controler

Problem is, all map data was reset frm the apexi powder FC, including the Sard FR! (set to minimal)

As there are no tuner in Brune; we hav a japanese HKS Tuner comes down once a year to provide tuning services, at the mo my rex running at most 50% of its potential, not to mention fuel economy realy terible.

My only fix now is seting temporary inj/ign correction, at least its drivable'ish ane not looking like a diesel with black fumes spewing out of the exhaust . . .

Help!

Will be looking at a remap as well. I love my car but had sti's before and want a bit more power but don't want to spend to much money as will probe end up getting the new age sti in a year or so. Thanks

Why are you asking for BMW parts on a tuning thread on a Subaru forum? I'm not surprised you ain't found one

I read your not a great fan of the v-pattern, 900cc (re-flowed 440cc), side feed phase 2 injectors.
What phase 2 injectors, would you suggest, in the 400-500bhp region, with a 4 plug mafless esl on a V1 classic?

Great information, but one exhaust related question.

I have 2.0 WRX running upgrades fuel pump, injectors, air filter, sti TMIC, #7 spark plugs, AFP TD05 20g, decay up-pipe, Pro drive sports cat and system. Presently mapped to conservative 366bhp by Andy Forest.

I want MOT compliant car (I also drive in Switzerland where you car have car impounded for running decay systems).

Now wanting more power somewhere between 450-500 bhp (yes new gearbox etc will be needed and other supporting mods)

So my questions are..
What is max performance can I get with car with cat fitted?
Which cats have best flow (Miltek etc)?
Has anyone experimented with other cats or seen 400+ bhp cars running with cats?

You have posted in the wrong area fella, your on a tuning thread by here, not really applicable to what questions your asking ( it is but better asking in other parts of the forum )

Use the search bar above and use " " at the start and end of a search term I.E "FORGE ENGINE REBUILD" "WHAT'S NEEDED" etc if you can't find the answers your after then post in the general technical section and I'm sure you will get the answers you seek

this may be me being a bit stupid or not reading it properly, but is it correct that a 2006 hawkeye only has Cats in the downpipe and centre section ?
would be useful to know for when i plan future mods as i have already removed the centre section cat, so need to know as i would to stay MOT friendly (either with a sports cat or standard) would the standard downpipe cat be that restrictive? as id be looking at 280 or under on a remap
any information would be greatly recieved

regards

Rhys

cool, that rom raider looks very much like tunerpro which im used to using on older BMW's. basically a roll your own sort of program using the bin file and a suitable definition. i have made bosch motronic definitions for tunerpro so should pick rom raider and the subaru defs up handy enough less the jump up 20-ish years in tech lol

couple quick questions.. im assuming these ECU's have a functional checksum that needs to be updated after (or during if tuning on the fly is possible) the bin file has been modified. does rom raider automatically update the checksum for the various subaru ECU's or is a 3rd party software (or the OBD cable/software itself) needed for checksum correction?

secondly, is there any particular OBD cable needed or will any cheapo tool suffice such as clone galetto 1260 or MPPS as i have both.

Romraider does the checksum automatically when flashing, I've never had to do anything clever for checksum, the software takes care of it. Tuning on the fly isn't possible with the open source method which is a shame as that would be very nice.

For full functionality you would need a Tactrix cable, some cheaper cables allow learning view etc to be used but don't work too good for flashing. I don't think the galetto cable will work but give it a go.

signed up on romraider forum the other night. i have a vagcom cable that the dev says will do for flashing/reading/learning view which is handy. i asked about seeing where the ECU reads and it looks like theres a way but it sounds a little on the complex side but im sure ill sus it out.

given the knowledge on the romraider forum its sort of like me tuning opensource on my old BMW.. there is no point going aftermarket as 99.9% of what you could ever want to do can be done on the stock ECU so looks like ill be mapping my hawkeye WRX myself then.. also noticed the guys on the forum have come up with tweaks to the ECU file which change it from MAF to speed density using the OEM MAP sensor so may do that also as it should be easier tuned and intake mods wont wreak havoc on the tune either.
