Hi,

I have a year 2000 UK Turbo and bought a VAG KKL lead off EBay and it works with ecuExplorer that is free to download.

It gives you live data readings in scaled numbers rather than graphs though, and can read fault codes & reset ECU.

I bought the lead a fair while ago so haven't the exact item number but it was from the guy with this: 320654068912 item number and I'm pretty sure this is the cable you need - check with him though, he was very helpful if remember correctly.

Hope helps,

No worries,

Your ecu should be AE800 or AE801 on that year - ecuExplorer will also say what one you have

Simtek or Apexi are aftermarket ones.

The std ecu should I believe can be mapped, but the only way I think to tell if it has been is if a mapper goes into it to see if it has an ECUTEK licence.

Well got the cable , downloaded the ecuexplorer onto the laptop went out to the car went to plug it in and found it wont i have this

http://

Anyone got a 9 pin to 16 pin lead they want to pass on lol

Im asuming now its got the 9 pin not the 16pin connector so now have to get a converter lead to use with the vag kkl cable cars never go right when you want them too , but your right my ecu is an E3 22611/AE801 unit

The OBD port (which uses SSM protocol for MY99/00 i.e. via ecuExploer ) is on the lower cowling under the steering column. Looks a bit like a SCART socket...

Don't know what that plug is in your pic, or where its cited (can't get my bearings lol).

That one is under the driverside center on tunnel under radio if you know where i mean
The only things i got under neath the steering clumn is the two green plugs and the two black plugs to reset the ecu and get the error codes by flashes lol

Oh lol. That plug in your pic then: is that the OEM radio/speakers etc. plug...?!?!

And there should be the OBD socket on the grey plastic lower cowling trim panel (and not under the actual column!)

As you're sat in the drivers seat, it should be roughly where your right knee is - located in the trim panel, not up with the wiring under dash

Agree with the above. I would describe it as being central just above your ankles.
