Bit of advice really, over the past two days the dumpl valve has been going off very frequently at very low revs, quite a bit of backfire and the car feels generally sluggish.

Also this morning the engine management light has come on. Speaking to a friend and searching the forums, some of the possts point to a broken / weak spring in the dump valve, does this viable going by the symptoms that I have been experiencing?

If I do get some new springs for the valve will the engine management light go out or will it have to be cleared.

The dump valve itself was already fitted when I got the car, and I asked a subaru dealer for a replacement (part no 14471AA143 - valve assembly - Air Bypass) which is £253.

Any advice would be great.

Get a secondhand stock recirc valve. Check pipework for leaks as well.

 

i have a 99 v plate and use a forge had no issiues yet

 

Took dump valve off today, and opened it up, and the spring has broken. Which left the valve open on one side and closed on the other.

Got a oem recirculation valve coming tomorrow, so hopefully this will be sorted.
