Default Idle control valve

Hi
Ever since I had my v6 type r engine rebuilt at API, the idle control valve has played up on and off, causing high idle around 1100-1200 rmp and hunts up and down, just recently it started to do it more often than not, as the car was comming off the road this winter, I have held out on buying a new one at the cost of nearly £300.
Over the Christmas period I stopped in at my local Subaru specialist and priced up a new icv, the guy that runs the parts department has recently broken his my99 t2000 and said the icv worked fine and I could try that one, Ive fitted it today and it still seems to idle high, is it just bad luck that this second hand icv is no good aswell, or could there be another problem elsewhere, he mentioned that the maf could be causing this idle problem, but a new maf was fitted at the time of engine rebuild, and it's only done about 5k miles, with a panel filter fitted.
Mods on the car are 550 injectors, 18g, 3port, 3inch decat exhaust.

Tristan

Have you had it mapped since your rebuild?

I'd suspect the new Maf.

A decent mapper will tell you

yes it was mapped at api after i ran it in, and my local ecutek approved subaru specialist did a data logging session a couple of times not long ago and he confirmed everything was fine apart from the lambda sensor which i replaced with a new one from import car parts

I've got pretty much the same mods as you, but with a Simtek ecu so no maf...

I'm having a similar problem and if you read thru my thread it might give you ideas to try, good luck.
