Default could it be more?

hi all, there is an impreza sti for sale near me, it is spares or repairs
as said in advert :-
The cam belt has jumped one tooth on the exhaust right hand side, i did this by locking out this cam when i fit the new clutch fly wheel and pressure plate.
It does start and run but not very well!!

any thoughts? i dont know alot about changing the clutch really so want to know if this would affect the running of the engine? and do you have to `locking out the cam` as he put it to do the clutch?

any ideas help would be helpful

sean.

Bent exhaust valves require a full engine rebuild and that's sounds like what happened. Nothing to do with the clutch

my last impreza i changed the cambelt and it jumped a tooth and ran a bit lumpy that was all, redone the belt and all was fine, just wondering if there was more to it.

i have asked if i can go and have a look.

ok found out a bit more today

he says he changed the flywheel and when tightening it back up he locked the exhaust cam to do it !!

hence why now its jumped probably quite a few teeth and why its running so badly, a bit more questioning and he says when running it knocks like a good un

think i`ll steer clear as cant be bothered doing with a rebuild.
