Default Help - Correct P/N's for Timing Belt Change

Hi, I've got a Timing Belt Kit from my local parts guy and just want to check if i have the right parts...

My car is a 97 Impreza STI Type R.

Belt is a Gates P/N 5384XS.

In the manual i have there's another small tensioner between the Hyd' Tensioner and the Cam Gear on passenger side.
Is there one of these on my engine?

I'd have a look with the cover off only the car is not parked at home during the week and i plan on starting to change the belt saturday so want to make sure ve the right parts before i start!

Thanks...

the belt drawing shows the four cams two at each end, the crank, the tensioner and the water pump and three idlers. and yes the water pump looks wrong looks like you could of bought the kit for a newage.

Understand that alright, the manuals i have show a small idler between the hydraulic tensioner and the right hand side cam gears, i had a chance to check today anyway and it doesnt have one so the belt is right.

Water pump def is wrong though, will be getting different one this week.
I think the correct P/N for the water pump is 21111aa240.

Does anyone know if there's two idlers that are exact same? Both ones on the left of crank

Did the timing belt at the weekend and everything went well i'm happy to say....the biggest job was taking everything off to get at the belt!!!

I was nervous about doing it before but for anyone thinking of doing it themselves once you have the right tools and a bit a patience i'd def say do it yourself!
Only tricky bit is holding the new belt on the pulleys so either get clamps or someone to hold it for ya and leave one idler loose when putting on the belt when you have it in right position then tighten it up.

Make sure and have a good read of the manual for right torque and other stuff about direction of rotation of the cam pulleys.
Cam pulley locking tool will also come in handy.

My car is a 1997 STI Type R and these are the parts i needed.
Timing Belt: Gates P/N 5384XS
Hydraulic Tensioner: INA P/N 531065520
Water Pump: Blue Print P/N ADS79112
Idler: Blue Print P/N ADS77610 (you need two of these)
Toothed Idler: Blue Print P/N ADS77609
Spark Plugs: Denso P/N PK20PR-P6 3245 (you need four of these)

Hope this helps anyone out thats thinking of doing their own belt...
