A 10w-50 is ideal for your car if it's driven hard and these are the ones that we stock.
http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-659-10w-50.aspx
Both are really good oils, absolute top of the range ones, so go with any brand preference you have.
A 10w-40 is a better choice for normal use

The best ones are the Gulf Competition, Motul 300V, Redline and Millers CFS. As a cheaper alternative the Fuchs XTR, Motul 6100 and Millers XSS are good choices.
Cheers

Question for Oilman
Why does it say in the Gulf Competion data sheet
"While these oils are excellent for motorsport use, they are not recommended for use in road cars if the car or its engine is still under the original manufacturers’ warranty."

Marketing mainly, to make it look more racy. The Gulf Competition I believe exceeds API SL/CF and ACEA A3/A4 due to the additive pack used, they just dont put it on the can.
If you wanted an oil that meets specs they would push you onto their normal range.
Cheers
Guy.

Mine is a slighty tuned hawk 07 WRX (290 bhp) and I rang Millers technical and they said they only recommend 10W 60 if you are going to be doing track days but for normal road / some fast driving they told me to use 10W 50

Just had a look at what millers go for on the classic for oil, on a UK car they recommend a 5w30 (subaru clearly states this oil is NOT suitable for every day use on this vehicle and put a big warning against it in their manual), a 5w40 and a 10w40, plus they state only 4 ltrs (needs 4.5).
Would stick with the handbook recommendations tbh, subaru changed what their engines were good for with the new age, classics need different oils (ie you can use a 5w30 on a new age but not a classic).

A 5w40, 10w40 or 10w50 would all be suitable (fully synthetic of course ) standard oil you may well find that is used is shell helix 10w40 semi synthetic (no real issues with this either, just keep the changes regular)

It's good stuff, but there is better for an Impreza. The only ester based Edge is the Edge 10w-60 for BMW M-Series and that's too thick for an Impreza. The other Edge oils are just good synthetics, but quite expensive and not as good as other oils, such as the Gulf Competition, Millers CFS and Fuchs Pro S that cost about the same.

I run Fuchs Pro S 10/50 myself, chiefly because Powerstation have always recommended it. Given it's a road car though, i doubt i stretch the engine hard enough for the oil to make much difference at all once you're into premium brands.
