Airbag reset question

Will resetting the airbag module by plugging in the diagnostic terminals under the dash clear crash codes?

Just to clarify, is there a difference between error codes and crash codes. I have used the diagnostic terminals to try to clear the codes but the airbag light just flickers and the codes don't clear, does this procedure not clear crash codes?
