Noticed the last few days my car throwing sot out again on cold start up.
Last time I checked this the reason was the catch can was full (first time it had to be emptied in almost a year).
So checked and again the catch can is full up.
Oil shows the same level on cold and warm. I am using a little bit more fuel than normal though.
Why would the catch can fill up in a short space of time again (about a month)?
Is it becuase the oil is thining out? Only seems to do this when I use 95 or 99 ron fuel.
Carrying out oil change etc in the next week or two with maybe a new pump.
Any Ideas?
Steve

OK, went and looked at it again just now (nice weather :-) ) .
The smell is almost like a Speedway bike (two stroke) would smell.
Colour is clear to yellow with some black and the latte like top layer.
Check the pipe and they seem clear. Not build up in them.

Sounds like a lot of condensation.
Are you doing lots of short journeys at the moment and not getting the oil REALLY hot?
Might pay you to redirect the vent pipework back to the std configuration until the weather warms up.

Funny you mention that. I have noticed the exhaust have more condensation in in on start up.
I do try and give the car a good run (up and down the motorway from Junc 1 to Junc 4 of the M3) but haven't done recently.
I'm checking all levels of water in the header tank etc and still is at a good level. Nothing in overflow tank etc.
Think I may just put the catch can back on and see how it goes. It is due a belt, water pump, oil pump change soon. But with this still an unknown issue makes me wonder if to add my oil cooler after all.

Had same issue was full up. But it is just my girlfriend doing short journeys, also my sparks were blowing out on full chat due to short journeys and turbo not boosting to clean.
